A vacation is meant to be a break from everything you do on a daily basis and that includes diet and exercising. However, getting off the path of healthy living and indulging yourself can often make it very difficult to get back on track when you return! The only thing you can do then is hit the gym even when you’re on vacation. But, that will ruin the purpose of going on a holiday!

So what do you do then to stay healthy on a vacay?

Simple! You follow the fat-burning rules we’ve laid down below. These do not require you to hit the gym at all. And they don’t take the fun away from your holiday either, making them a total win-win! Check them out below-

1. Skip The Meat And Have Seafood

When you’re out and about on trips, try cutting down on your usual red meats and other greasy ones as much as you can. Replace them with seafood instead. Because they’re less fattening and won’t add to your pounds as you laze the days away on a beach! In fact, quite a few women have actually managed to lose some weight while holidaying by eating seafood. Become a pescetarian (1). So, it could work for you as well! Naturally, this will be much easier if you go on a seaside vacay instead of hiking, for example.

2. Walk The Right Way

And walk as much as you can! Vacations are all about exploring places unknown. And what better way to do that than walk? Walking is a great calorie burner too and a very easy way to stay fit (2). However, you have to walk the right way so this activity can be more efficient in burning calories. Here’s how you should walk-

  • Keep your head with shoulders down and walk in a straight line.
  • When taking a step, place your heel on the ground first, followed by your toes.
  • Swing your arms from side to side in opposite directions as you walk.
  • Walk for 30 to 35 minutes on each day of your holiday.

We’re not saying you should completely forgo alcohol on your holiday. But moderation might help you a lot in losing weight when on a holiday. Try replacing cans of sodas and beer with fresh fruit juices. They’re healthier and as tasty as any drink you could possibly want! In fact, having a glass of pulpy fruit juice just 20 minutes before you eat can help you curb your appetite and prevent you from overeating. You could also try locally produced healthy drinks and juices to add some exotic flavor to your trip!

4. Play In The Sand

That is if you’re on a beach vacation! Fun activities such as Frisbee toss or beach volleyball can help you burn a lot of calories while enjoying the gorgeous beauty all around you. The best part is that you don’t need more than two people for any of these activities. So you don’t have to worry that you didn’t come with a group large enough to play. You could even go on a run on the beach or do some yoga if you’re the fitness-freak kind!

5. Swim Away

Another thing you can only do on a beach-based vacation to stay fit is swim! Swimming for around 20 minutes every day can help you burn every single extra calorie you gain. Try not to take breaks when you’re swimming as that’ll help improve the rate at which your body burns calories. Also, keep changing your swimming styles if you want to lose some body fat!

6. Try Out Water Exercises

This is something you can do anywhere, provided the hotel you’re staying at has a pool. Water exercises are a fun way to enjoy your time at the pool and yet workout your body a little! Some of the exercises you can do underwater are-

  • Run underwater. With your head above the surface of the water, try static running in the place you’re in. Running fast on the spot for 10 minutes can help you burn a lot of calories.
  • Float in the water. Floating in the water on your back with your knees pulled to your chest is a great abs exercise. 10-12 reps of this exercise ought to be enough.
  • Make a wave. Standing in the water with your head above it, make waves with your arms as quickly as you can. Continue for 10-15 minutes to give your arms a workout.

There’s no need for you to ruin your vacation by worrying about your health or your weight loss plan anymore. With these simple tricks, you can stay fit as a fiddle no matter where you travel! Happy holidaying to you!
