Do you feel bloated all the time? If yes, then you are at the right place! Bloating of the stomach is a very common digestive issue suffered by both men and women. With poor eating habits, stressful lives, and exposure to various pollutants, it is no surprise that so many people suffer from bloating, constipation, and other digestion-related issues.

While a bloated stomach can be really uncomfortable, it can sometimes indicate serious health issues too that could be lurking below the surface. For example, bloating of the stomach is one of the most obvious symptoms of candida.

Let’s talk in simple terms. Whenever you feel bloated, does it make your stomach protrude in a very weird way (as if you are three months pregnant!)? Do you feel that there is a tank of gas crammed into your digestive system? Usually, bloating can be easily treated by making small and healthy changes in your lifestyle. But, if this happens to you quite frequently, and is accompanied by certain symptoms, such as dizziness or fever, you must go and visit a doctor immediately.

What Causes Bloating?

There are actually a number of reasons that can contribute to a bloated or gassy stomach. Some of them are hormonal imbalances, gut troubles, thyroid dysfunction, and allergies to certain things.

Some of the symptoms that accompany bloating are:

1. Constipation
2. Hemorrhoids
3. Sudden weight loss
4. Watery eyes
5. Fever
6. Irregular periods
7. Trouble in focusing or concentrating on a particular thing
8. Blood in urine and stool
9. Itchy throat
10. Rashes on the skin

Since this is a very common issue, it is very important to understand the reasons or causes that trigger bloating, and then start working on them. There are many common foods that can trigger bloating. Some of them are:

  1. Beans: Beans contain oligosaccharides. This is a form of sugar that does not get digested by our bodies easily. So, if you suffer from bloating, try reducing the consumption of beans. If you love eating them, soak dry beans in fresh water for some time before cooking. This will help in eliminating some of the sugar content.
  1. Dairy Products: Many people find it difficult to digest dairy products. Thus, you need to check if you are allergic to them and try to limit the consumption of dairy products. You can replace them with almond milk, soy milk, flax milk or coconut milk.
  1. Carbonated Drinks: Consumption of carbonated drinks also causes bloating as they release carbon dioxide. So, stop drinking them to avoid bloating.
  1. Chewing Gum: Do you love chewing candies or gums? If yes, this might be the cause of gas and bloating in your stomach. The reason behind it is when we chew on something for a long time, we swallow air more often. Since they mostly contain artificial sweeteners, they lead to gastrointestinal issues, and hence, bloating.
  1. Certain Vegetables: Some nutritious veggies, like asparagus, broccoli, and cabbage, can also contribute to bloating.
  1. Certain Fruits: Even fruits such as pears can cause bloating.
