Weddings are the most celebrated events in Indian families. It’s almost like a festival that lasts for a week in many families. And what’s so unique about Indian weddings? Everything! It could be the food, the dance, the music, and also, the ensembles! Indian weddings are one of those weddings where everybody wants to look their best (bride included). Every single friend or relative from the bride or the groom’s side wants to look their best and make heads turn. They invest so much on their wedding ensembles like they themselves were the bride-to-be.

But what will you do if you have two-three weddings lined up one after another? You certainly will not be able to purchase an outfit to wear to each of these weddings, right? You might hit the bankrupt button if you do so. Hey, we belong to the smartest generation of millennials now. We need to think smartly when it comes to dressing up for weddings. Buying brand new outfits for weddings shouldn’t be an option for us anymore. And yes, we also don’t want to look the same at every wedding either. What do we do then? We repeat our outfits in a different avatar by styling it different every single time.

No, we’re not kidding about this idea peeps, we’re dead serious! Even our celebs do it. For example, if you are a person who follows Bollywood updates very closely, you’ll know that celebs like Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor, Genelia D’Souza — they have all repeated their outfits at various events and even weddings. So, why can’t we do the same, right?

Here are few styling tips that’ll come handy for you whenever you want to repeat outfits at family gatherings or weddings and still look different. Start noting down.

1. Repeating A Saree

Saree is an evergreen clothing item for Indians. Every Indian girl will have at least one saree that she just cannot let go of; they are emotions you know. Okay, coming back to the topic of repeating a saree now, observe the embellishments, the motifs, and the colors of the body, pallu, and border of the saree you have. Based on that you can get different blouses stitched in different ways and repeat your sarees. If you wore a backless one last time, get a blouse stitched with some sleeve detailing and repeat your saree.

Nowadays, thanks to the stylists, we can also find videos online that help you drape sarees differently. Did you know that you can drape a saree like a skirt or even like a gown? Go check them out and style your sarees differently and keep hitting the repeat button.

2. Repeating A Lehenga

You can wear your lehengas again and again and still not be pointed out at by someone saying, “Didn’t you wear this last time too?”

All you need is a creative brain to accomplish this. Wear your lehenga with a different blouse and dupattas. Play with colors. Also, you can even get a silk button-down shirt stitched for the lehenga you already have. It’s better than investing in an entirely new outfit.

3. Repeating A Salwar Suit

Salwar suits can be as expensive as the lehengas and sarees that you purchase. Of course, that depends on what material it’s made of and how intricate is the embroidery work on it. Styling a salwar suit is pretty easy though, all you need to do is pair the kameez with different dhoti pants, churidars, or salwars. You can also drape the dupatta differently every time you wear it. If you have an A-line kurta, maybe you can alter it into a slim-fit hourglass shape. Wear different kinds of jewelry too, it makes a lot of difference.

4. Repeat Outfits By Transforming Them

In spite of repeating your saree or your lehenga successfully a couple of times, you might personally get bored of wearing it, right? The problem is you don’t have enough money to get a brand new outfit either to wear for the event. So, what do you do? We suggest that you transform your outfit. If it’s a saree, convert it into a beautiful gown or even a lehenga. If it’s a lehenga convert it into a kurta or even an anarkali. And if it’s a kameez, then maybe change it into a crop top which you can pair with a plain skirt.

Play with your jewelry, your hairstyle, and your makeup — all these will help you look different and impress others with your outfit at weddings.

We all have an inner Manish Malhotra and a Sabyasachi Mukherjee inside us. So let’s closely listen to the designer with us and nail our wedding ensembles by repeating them differently.
