How To Rock Those Big, Bold Eyebrows

Written by Saumya Gaur  •

There was a time when overly -plucked eyebrows were a popular fashion trend. Any celebrity, be it, Christina Aguilera or Paris Hilton, flaunted their done-to-death brows with aplomb. But that time has long gone by, with the coming of the woke millennial generation, the trend of thick, bushy eyebrows have made a big comeback.

Unless you have your humble abode under a rock somewhere, you too would have noticed this trend making its way among the fashionable elite. It so happens that this trend was pushed into the mainstream by a celebrity,Cara Delevingne, who is one of the most popular supermodels in the world today.

But not all of us are supermodels blessed with envy-inducing bushy brows, are we?

So how can we incorporate this hot fashion trend in your everyday style? Let us show you how. If you too want to join in on this trend, these are a few things you need to remember:

1. Always Go Natural

What works for Deepika Padukone might not work for you. Why? Simply because you have different facial features than hers. So if you want to begin grooming your eyebrows by shaping them, we suggest you don’t alter their original shape. Your original shape is better suited to your facial features. Therefore, if you want to fill in your brows or shape them by waxing, stick to your original shape as much as possible.

2. Brush Your Brow Out

A lot of us, when we begin to shape our brows, start with brushing the eyebrow hair. That is the way to make them look natural. The trick is to brush them up and out, and not sideways. If you want your eyebrows to stand out and look as natural as possible, brush them out. This will give your face a more defined look.

3. Before Filling In Your Brow, Highlight It

Yes, you read that right. We are talking about highlighting. Apply a little bit of highlighter just below the brows to make them pop. Even if you are someone who doesn’t use a lot of makeup, this trick will give you a wide-awake look. Just make sure to use a highlighter pencil, it will give your brows a fuller look. Also, make sure that the highlighter is one shade lighter than your skin tone.

4. Do The Outline The Right Way

Next up is outlining the brow. The usual way of grooming eyebrows is that first you outline them and then fill them in, but the right way of doing it is different. Instead of drawing a boundary around your brow, outline just the top part of your brow. The highlighter below the brow bone is enough for the outline. You don’t need to outline it separately.

5. Ditch The Pencil For The Powder

While you might find it more convenient to do your brows with a brow pencil, instead of powder, if you want a more natural, well-feathered look we suggest you opt for brow powder. They are easier to handle and give you a more of an au naturalé vibe.

You can always trust your spoolie brush to give your brow more definition, while you fill it in with the powder. Also, remember that you have to brush the powder on the hair of your brow and not on your skin.

6. Focus The Pigment On The Outer Corner Of Your Brows

While putting on the powder, if you notice that it’s making your brows look very fake or clownish observe where you are putting the powder. If you dump a lot of brow powder in the inner corners of your eyes, it would make them appear fake or artificial. Rather than doing that, focus it from the arch of your brow going towards its tail. This would create an ombrè look. Then using a brush blend the remaining pigment onto the corner of your eye.

7. Choose The Right Color By Mix-N-Match

If you want a truly natural look, you probably want to skip the readymade shades. The trick to finding the right shade for your eyebrow is using a blend of two different colors. Customize the hue according to your own skin complexion and hair color. And remember, if you want your eyebrow to be a shade darker than your natural hair color, choose a shade lighter than that. When it’s filled in and blended perfectly, it will look darker because it’s concentrated in such a smaller area.

This was our step-by-step guide for rocking big, bold eyebrows. If you are naturally blessed with full-feathered eyebrows, then you don’t need this guide, all you need to do to rock your God-given look is focus on its grooming and upkeep. But for those of us who are have-nots, this guide will come in handy.

So, try these tips, and tell us how they worked out for you in the comments.
