Kareena Kapoor Khan’s weight has always been in the news. Right from the Tashan days when she dropped to a crazy 46 kilos and became a size zero to her recent 10-hours-a-day workout session for Veere Di Wedding! She’s one actor who takes her fitness very seriously and I really admire her for that. To become so fit after having a baby is no easy task!

For me, she’s nothing less than an inspiration — a woman whose sheer drive motivates me to lose the extra pounds I’ve been packing. Lately, I’ve been a tad bit overweight (almost 10 kilos) and the gain has really been impacting my day to day life. I decided it was high time that I did something about it. So, I turned to my one and only role model, Kareena Kapoor Khan for inspiration.

I went on a crazy research overdrive to find out exactly what her diet and fitness routine are like. My end game was to adopt them and become just as fit as her! While researching, here’s what I found out-

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Diet

Kareena is a strict vegetarian. She gets her proteins and other nutrients from vegetarian sources only. Here’s her diet chart–

Morning: Her breakfast consists of either muesli or upma or paratha or idli with a glass of fresh fruit juice or milk.

Mid-morning: A sandwich made of brown bread.

Afternoon: Lunch is a good amount of homemade dal with roti, plenty of veggies and salad.

Evening: Nuts with a glass of soy milk.

Night: The dinner is usually a bowl of yogurt, veggies, and dal with either roti or brown rice.

She also has 6 to 7 glasses of boiled water throughout the day.

Kareena’s workout regime is a mix of many things. She does both Yoga and Pilates as well as a lot of cardio. Her Pilates instructor, Namrata Purohit, reveals that Kareena does 45-minute sessions of Pilates at least 4 times a week. Kareena’s favorite Pilates exercises involve the Cadillac machine, jump board, and the ladder barrels.

What Was My Experience After Following Kareena’s Diet And Fitness Routine?

Okay, let me start by saying that I signed up for Pilates classes since I obviously didn’t have the machines at home. As for yoga, I did that at home and I regularly engaged in cardio workouts in the gym. Overall, I devoted a full 10 hours to exercising as she did. I’m in between jobs and single so it was doable. Also, I should mention here that I’m a hardcore non-vegetarian, but since a vegetarian diet is lighter and less greasy, I decided to give it a shot.

On my first day, I was very excited to get started on my new weight loss regime so things went smoothly! I didn’t feel like I was missing out on much by not having chicken for a day and the exercises felt like a welcome change. In fact, my entire first week was exhausting but good. And it felt like I was getting on to something! I was feeling more active than I did just a week ago and I took that as a good sign. The Pilates classes were particularly fun and my most favorite part of the day. So far, so good.

However, after about 10 days or so were over, I began noticing a tremendous increase in my stress levels. And this was despite the yoga in the morning. The 10 hours thing was taking a major toll on me. And as I said before, I am a hardcore non-vegetarian. So not getting meat into my system made me feel weaker. Of course, there were cheat days in my plan but having dal and veggies twice a day really wasn’t cutting it for me.

Hence, my stress levels started negatively impacting my overall fitness regime. Besides, I also felt lethargic and too tired to move because of the grueling sessions that lasted forever. At this point, I had to ask my gym and Pilates instructors to suggest a diet that has meat in it but still aids in weight loss. I also begged them for a reduction in my workout hours. 10 hours is inhuman!

After that, my exercise hours were reduced to just 2 hours a day pinit button

After that, my exercise hours were reduced to just 2 hours a day. This, coupled with the new and improved diet plan helped a lot! I wasn’t as exhausted anymore, and the whole thing felt like a healthy balance of diet and exercise rather than something insanely extreme!

So, in my experience, the 10-hour workout regime is a complete no-show. It only leads to multiple aches and muscle spasms, which you won’t be able to count on your fingers! Plus, a very strict diet means more cheating on the side, which is counterproductive. Celebrities can afford to spend half of the day working out, because they have an army of stylist, nutritionists, dieticians, physiotherapists, etc., catering to their bodies.

Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend this kind of an extreme workout. It’s best to consult your trainer and do something more moderate. We can always take inspiration from our role models, but we can’t mimic their lives, because not everybody is the same.
