When Coldplay graced the stage of MMRDA grounds in Mumbai, they won the hearts of tonnes of desi fans. The British rock band filled with their melodious music and stunned over 70,000 fans with an enthralling performance of the song Channa Mereya from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Chris Martin enthusiastically greeted the song and asked them to put their hands up in the air as he belted out the lyrics in his signature voice. The song then smoothly transitioned into their popular song, Sky Full Of Stars. He also sang Vande Mataram with India’s music mozart A.R. Rahman, giving the audience goosebumps. Besides Coldplay, Demi Lovato, Jay-Z, and The Vamps took to the big stage to perform in 2017.
2. Dhanush Sang Why This Kolaveri Di?
You’d be lying if you were saying you didn’t sing along to this song with your classmates at some point in time. The year was 2011 and Dhanush’s sonnet about the perils of love had just gone viral. The ‘Tanglish’ song touched the hearts of millions of fans across the country and catapulted the young Tamil actor/singer to stardom. This song broke a record of its own and became the first Indian song to hit more than 100 million views on YouTube.
3. India Brought Home The World Cup After 28 Years In 2011
When the Indian Cricket team looked like it was in poor shape while battling against Sri Lanka, fans across the country lost hope that the team would manage to bag the cup. However, thanks to the talents of Gautam Gambhir and MS Dhoni, the match turned around and the team got to lift the ICC World Cup high into the air after 28 years! The last time India bagged a world cup was in 1983 against West Indies.

The actress finally spoke about the elephant in the room while being seated next to another alleged product of nepotism, Saif Ali Khan, whose mother Sharmila Tagore is a famed veteran actress. Kangana shockingly called the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai director the ‘flagbearer of nepotism’. 5. Ed Sheeran Gets Trolled Over Pictures From Farah Khan’s Party
When Ed Sheeran visited India in November of 2017 to perform at the Jio Gardens in BKC, Mumbai, Farah Khan threw an outrageous party with the entire Bollywood fraternity in tow. When images of the party surfaced online, the Bollywood celebrities and Ed himself were trolled for their awkwardness. According to the Twitterati, Ed’s vacant expression along with Farah weirdly lurking over his shoulder made him look like a kid being forced to smile for a camera. The party may have been over for Ed Sheeran, but his memes will live on for decades to come.

Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that this show truly was one of the biggest things to happen to its fans. According to reports from HBO themselves, more than 17.4 million people tuned in to watch the premiere of Season 8. But before the show received massive success, it was a series of underrated books. When the directors of the show premiered it in 2011, they did not expect it to become one of the most popular shows of the decade. Not only did the show stir a lot of conversation around controversial theories and hilarious memes, but it also featured Indian actress Indira Verma in a villainous role. 7. Priya Varrier’s Wink Goes Viral
In the year 2018, the song Manikya Malaraya Poovi released and made Priya Varrier a bonafide internet celebrity. In the movie, Oru Adaar Love Priya plays a school going girl who winks at a boy who admires her. The song went viral and made Priya a name heard across campuses and schools across the country.
