Lately, the monsoons have come rushing in, resulting in terrible weather conditions across the country. Add to that, we’re still battling the Coronavirus pandemic, and the horrible weather doesn’t make this easier. Recently, a young group of tourists found themselves caught in a bad landslide in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. Among those tourists was a young Ayurvedic doctor named Dr. Deepa Sharma. Dr. Deepa was a major fan of Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut. When the actress found out about the accident, she decided to share a heartfelt message on her Instagram story as well as a warning to other tourists looking to venture out in terrible weather. Here is what Kangana had to say about Dr. Deepa’s unfortunate passing:

Before Dr. Deepa lost her life, she had shared a couple of pictures from her trip on her Twitter account. She was a resident of Jaipur, and this was the first time she was venturing out on a solo trip. Plenty of the photos she shared went viral on social media. She was among nine tourists who passed away after their vehicle got caught in a massive landslide in the mountainous region of Kinnaur. Dr. Deepa is no stranger to fame and even made a television appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati. However, those who knew her knew she was a major fan of actress Kangana Ranaut. When the actress found out about her untimely passing, she had a lot to say.

Kangana took to her Instagram story to share a few images of Dr. Deepa and spoke about how she was a huge fan of Kangana’s. She added that Dr. Deepa had sent her gifts, plenty of flowers, letters and had even visited Kangana in her home in Manali. Kangana recalled their first meeting and spoke about how they met for the first time during the shooting of her film, Manikarnika, in Dr. Deepa’s home city of Jaipur. Kangana stated that many of her fans had surrounded the hotel and were calling out to her, but Deepa stood out in the crowd. She added that Deepa came and hugged her and expressed her adoration and stated that they had been in touch ever since. She ended the message by saying that it was much more than just a sad accident and that it was a tearrible day.

Kangana wasn’t the only Bollywood celebrity to express sadness about Dr. Deepa’s death. Producer Vivek Agnihotri also shared a few pictures with the cinema fan and expressed grief in a Twitter status. He stated that he could not believe that she was no longer in this world. He added that he was told that she lost her life during the landslide. He also complimented the young girl and called her a knowledgeable and interesting person. He ended his message by stating that he hopes God gives strength to the rest of her family.

Hiking and going on adventure sports during lousy weather is not a good idea. It’s excellent that Kangana took this opportunity to warn others of steering clear of hiking and traveling. When you hike in bad weather, you have the chance of getting struck by lightning, falling off the roads, getting caught in a landslide, and even worse. Even expert hikers would advise you not to travel in bad weather; this is especially if you are a newbie and have not attempted adventure sports before. Even if you have no other choice but to go traveling during this weather, there are a couple of things you should keep in mind. If you hear the roar of thunder, try finding shelter immediately and don’t head out on the open ground. Thunder and lightning always go hand in hand together.

Avoid walking towards the edge of any surface area. If there is a sudden downpour, you may end up being swept off your feet (and not in the filmy, romantic way). You need to also make sure that you are avoiding any areas that are marked dangerous. If the sign says, “Danger, landslide area”, you need to find another way to your destination. You will need to avoid lone trees, telephone poles, open areas, and really tall trees. When it comes to using vehicles in bad weather, always understand that a car can trap you inside if there is a sudden landslide or flood.

Dr. Deepa’s death is truly unfortunate, and our hearts go out to all those who lost their lives in this landslide. It’s a good idea to stay indoors during this time as it’s also the best way to keep safe from the spread of the virus. Wait for the monsoon season to end before you decide to go traveling or hiking.
