Many of us have been too lazy or disinterested to go outside and buy skincare products. Some of us might also be worried about visiting parlors due to the Coronavirus lockdown and restrictions. However, this doesn’t mean that you still can’t get soft and glowing skin without stepping out of your home. Many Indians swear by natural remedies for common skincare ailments. Even international celebrities like Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor swear by these home-made magical face packs. Here’s a personal favorite face mask of Bebo that can be altered to suit your skin types:

Chemical-Free Glow

A majority of face washes and other skincare products out there contain harmful chemicals that can erode and damage your skin. While switching to organic might be the easiest option, it is not very affordable for a lot of people out there. Hence, it is a good idea to find alternatives like natural remedies and other ingredients you can make at home. Kareena herself is a skincare guru and has been in the beauty industry for over two decades now. Her natural face mask is extremely easy to make at home and you just need sandalwood paste, vitamin E oil, turmeric, and milk. Kareena’s friend who recommended the face mask mentioned that you need to add 2 tablespoons of sandalwood paste, 2 drops of vitamin E oil, a pinch of turmeric powder, and mix all the ingredients with milk. This homemade mask is as Indian as it gets and leaves your skin feeling heavenly.

This face pack is enriched with ingredients that are beneficial for a variety of skin care problems from dry skin to dull skin. The turmeric in the face pack works both as an anti-bacterial and an anti-inflammatory agent, so it is a must-have in your skincare arsenal. Sandalwood paste acts as a gentle exfoliant and helps rid the skin of acne and dullness. Kareena is also a major proponent of almond oil and says it is a skincare secret she inherited from her mother. In an interview, she stated that her sister Karisma and she soak in almond oil on lazy days and reveals that it is their favorite home treatment. Almond oil is as beneficial for your hair as it is your skin and is enriched with vitamin A and vitamin E. These ingredients protect your skin from sun damage, hydrates the skin and soothes inflammation.

Why Go Natural Over Organic?

When it comes to purchasing organic skincare products, it is important to remember that just because a product is expensive and has a premium name, does not mean it is extremely good for your skin. Even expensive skincare brands might have ingredients that can affect your skin, especially if it’s sensitive. It is crucial to do a patch test before you decide to invest in any product. Many skincare experts believe that not every organic skincare product is made equal and that some might contain ingredients that are extremely strong and could wreak havoc on your skin. Conversely, just because an ingredient is synthetically produced does not mean it is harmful for your skin. Some natural ingredients that are used in skincare products can be harsh on your skin and cause it to get damaged. They can be harsh and abrasive on sensitive skin types, doing more damage than harm.

A lot of these organic skincare products are enriched with essential oils and while they may have a very pleasant fragrance, any artificial fragrances can cause problems with your skin. It is also important to take the packaging of your skincare product into consideration before investing in it. The wrong packaging can cause natural products to break down and change their properties. Certain packaging like glass jars and bottles will increase your products’ exposure to bacteria and other pollutants which will ruin the efficacy of the product. The product will also get contaminated by your fingers if you have to scoop it out. Ensure that you find non-jar, opaque, packaging that limits the ingredients being exposed to sunlight and other pollutants.

Ingredients that aggravate your skin of any kind must be avoided. You must make sure you do not invest in any product that interrupts your skin’s ability to replenish and renew itself. These include ingredients that leave a tingling sensation on your skin or make it extremely sensitive when you wash your face. In the end, when it comes to skincare, it is best to do what suits your skin the right way and only switch to a more natural route if you’re ready to actually give it your all. Do let us know if these tips helped you switch to a more natural skincare routine.
