Kiran Dembla is a woman who dons many hats. She is a celebrity fitness expert, a mountaineer as well as a DJ! Talk about having multiple talents. However, her life wasn’t always like this. In fact, it took her many years to reach her breaking point and decide that she wanted more out of life. We live in a country that places immense societal pressures on married women and once they have children, the pressure can get quite overwhelming. This is often the plight of many women in today’s society. Numerous women find that their lives take a backseat after they have children. However, Kiran overcame that and took the steps necessary to change her life. So here’s her life story and how she decided to be the change she needed:

Like many married women in this country, Kiran too found herself in the position of a stay-at-home parent. She spoke about her life in an interview with a popular social media community recently. Speaking about how after she got married, her entire life revolved around the four walls of her home and how she never really dedicated any time to herself. She spoke about how ten years went by and all she ever did was clean and cook for her family. She felt like she was not being productive or doing anything that she loved. It was then that she decided to take music lessons and invite kids into her home to study music.

However, her health started taking a toll for the worse as she kept getting more and more inactive, and she eventually gained 25 kgs. Dejected with the drastic turn her health took and her excessive weight gain, Kiran decided that enough was enough, and that she would get fit. As she still had to deal with the responsibilities of her home life, Kiran, used to go to the gym really early in the mornings before her children woke up for school. She spoke about how she used to visit the gym as early as 5 in the morning and dedicate a good amount of time working on her fitness. With this dedicated effort, Kiran lost an immense amount of the weight she gained and lost 24 kgs in just seven months. It was then that she decided she wanted to take her fitness goals even further.

As sad as it is to admit, we don’t belong to a society that views men and women as equal. Women are often left to put aside their careers and focus on their husbands and raising their children. Thankfully, Kiran found support in her husband and he agreed with her decision to start her own gym. So the pair rented out a flat and turned it into a mini gym. Kiran spoke about how she had to sell off all her jewelry and take out a loan to achieve her dream. After this point there was no looking back for Kiran and she pursued all of her fitness dreams with enthusiasm.

By the age of 37 she had incredible six packs and eventually received an invitation from the Indian Body Building Federation. She was to represent India at the World Championships. However, Kiran’s father-in-law met his untimely demise and she was struck with grief. She had already started training for the competition before the news and was overcome with grief. However, she stayed with her mother-in-law for a week and then returned to her home to prepare for the competition. She competed in Budapest and placed sixth in the competition.

Kiran has been very upfront about how one should never let age hold them back from pursuing their dreams. She had said, “So what if I started a little later? At 45, I’m a trainer, a DJ, a mountaineer & a photographer, but most importantly, the happiest version of myself, & that’s really the best advice I can give— just do whatever the hell makes you happy!” Kiran received fame and is now a very well known trainer in the celebrity fitness circuit. She has proven to the world that you can achieve whatever you dream of if you truly put your mind and attention towards it.

Although many women believe that their personal lives are over after they have kids, Kiran has proved that this is not true and has gone out of her way to show that you can achieve whatever you wish for. There’s nothing wrong in being a jack of all trades and a late bloomer either. It’s truly inspiring to see stories like that of Kiran Dembla that highlight the power and resilience of women.
