Lip Care Routine For Winter

Winter season brings relief to the weird untimely climate of monsoon when you can’t even see the sun shining. As much as the winter slumber is loved by many, there’s one thing that many aren’t fond of and this appears as soon as the winter season knocks. The air is at its driest during winter making our skincare and haircare regimens ineffective. Our hair becomes dry, our skin loses its moisture, and our lips crack because of the dryness. The chilling wind outside, cold, dry, and artificially heated air of the interior conspire to make our lips flaky and dry. Our lips are one of the most sensitive parts of our body and there’s no surprise they require a lot of care during the dry season too.

When it comes to taking care of our lips during winter, most of us go and seek relief in the store-bought lip balms. What we don’t realize is that a lip balm’s effect is temporary. There is a certain way to take care of our lips during winter that will ensure prolonged care. And if you’re wondering what that constitutes, here’s a winter guide on how to take care of your lips naturally.

Steps To Take Care of Lips During Winter

  • Hydrate Your Lips From Within

The logic is simple: whatever goes inside your body, it reflects outside too. The cold weather of winter might make us not want to drink water. But water is required every single day for your body to stay healthy. Dehydration can lead to dry, chapped lips. Therefore drink enough water and help your lips stay soft and supple.

  • Exfoliate Lips On A Weekly Basis

Just like the face on your skin, even your lips require exfoliation too. Exfoliating lips will help to eliminate flaky and dull skin. In fact, exfoliating regularly can help in achieving pink, soft lips. Just remember that exfoliating once a week is enough, don’t overdo it as it can cause redness, irritation, and soreness.

  • Avoid Licking Lips

We have this tendency to licking our lips whenever we feel that it’s dry. This is a big no since our saliva has enzymes that are only meant for digesting our food, these enzymes can irritate the lips.

  • Apply Lip Products Only At Night

It’s no secret that our skin enters this repair and rejuvenate mode when the body is asleep at night. Therefore, if you are using any lip balm or DIY lip packs, then do so at night. Your lips will reap its benefits the most during the night.
