It’s no secret that Madhuri Dixit is one of Bollywood’s best dancers. Affectionately named, the Dhak Dhak girl, Madhuri has been stealing our hearts since her debut in 1984. Although her film, Abodh did not do very well commercially, the actress won praise for her role in the film. And the rest, as they say, is history. The actress tied the knot with US-based businessman Sriram Nene in 1999 and relocated to the United States after that. However, she couldn’t keep away from her roots for too long and returned to Mumbai in 2010 with her family in tow. The actress has two teenagers, Arin and Ryan. Here’s what they’ve all been up to during lockdown

As evidenced by the posts she shared on her social media account, it’s not surprising that Madhuri’s still got it. The stunning actress showed off her fancy footwork in an Instagram video. Only this time, it was her older son Arin who lent a hand and skillfully times his tabla to her ghungroos. The actress danced to the beat of the tabla and surprised fans when she asked her son to join her as well and attempted to train him to match her steps. Madhuri hilariously used a popular Phineas and Ferb effect to transition from her dancing solo to footage of her son joining her later. The actress and her family have been social distancing as per orders from the government. In the caption, the actress wrote, “Quarantine is making all of us do things that we’ve always wanted to. Watch till the end to find out what I have always wanted to do #WhenArinDancedWithMadhuri.”

The gorgeous starlet has been trained in the dance form of Kathak from an early age and has been dancing since she was a little girl. Although Madhuri pursued microbiology in college, she dropped out as she landed a role in her first film. Following her first film, the actress went all out and continued acting in numerous films until she decided to get married and move to America to live with her husband. While there, she had her two sons, Arin in 2003 and Ryan in 2005. The actress took a hiatus from acting during this time.

Madhuri has spoken out about her journey into motherhood in the past. While shooting for her comeback film, Aaja Nachle, the actress admitted to missing her kids a lot. She spoke about how she made sure she shot the film during their holidays. The actress had said, “If I didn’t have the support of my children, my husband, my mom, and my in-laws, I couldn’t have done it. They flew down to India twice during the shooting. And my mom was with me throughout. Ram was down in Mumbai twice because he and the kids missed each other.”

The actress, who is famous for being polite but highly reserved, admitted to how having children has turned her into a more gregarious person. She spoke about how both her sons keep her on her toes at all times and have made her realize how life shouldn’t always be serious. It’s nice to see the actresses’ sons bring out her fun side every now and then! In an interview with a popular newspaper, Madhuri revealed that her sons think she is a little “too strict”. The actress stated that her older son once wrote about how his mother is a stickler for rules in a school essay. She laughed about how she is extremely particular when it comes to disciplining her children and makes sure they follow her rules. But she also admitted to taking things easy on them from time to time. In the end, it’s all about finding the perfect balance and Madhuri is very good at that.

In the same interview, she revealed that her sons often find it difficult to believe she is an actress. She spoke about how they would often come running to her when they saw her on TV and how their friends would tell them things like, “You’re very lucky Madhuri Dixit is your mother.” She added that although they were really excited initially, they’ve learned to cool down as they’ve grown older and now don’t make as big a deal about it.

It’s adorable to watch one of our childhood superstars teach her young son to follow in her footsteps and we’re really glad Madhuri has started sharing more of her life with her loving fans. Do you think Madhuri’s son plays the tabla well? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
