Mahie Gill Of ‘Dev.D’ Fame Reveals She Is Mother To A Three-Year-Old Daughter But Is Not Married Yet

Who can forget the bold and unconventional Paro from Anurag Kashyap’s Dev.D? That was the very first time Bollywood saw the face of the talented Mahie Gill. And, with this role, a whole new dimension was dawned into the Bollywood industry. However, she was not a new face after all. She began her Bollywood career with Hawayein in 2003, but again, Dev.D was her big break, earning her a Filmfare Critic’s Award for Best Actress. And, from there, her career trajectory took off with her choosing out-of-the-box strong roles. In recent times, however, her presence on the silver screen has become a little more sparse, making us miss her unconventional off-beat roles.

Along these lines, a lot has been spoken about Mahie Gill’s triumphant professional life. However, her personal life has been something of a secret for years now, until recently she opened up during the promotions of a film. This is no surprise since Mahie Gill has been very successful in keeping her personal life undercover and out of the eyes of paparazzi.

During the promotional activities of her recent movie, Family of Thakurganj, Gill revealed to the world about being a proud single mother. Surprised? Read on.

Mahie Gill is the mother to a beautiful three-year-old girl, Veronica. Sounds familiar? And, she has a brilliant story behind the reason for giving her daughter a Catholic name. As Jesus Christ labored with his cross while being taken to Jerusalem, one woman stepped out of the crowd to wipe Jesus’ face with a cloth, only to get his image printed on it. She was Veronica and her name means “true image”. This struck Gill deeply and hence, named her daughter the same.

And, is Mahie Gill reluctant to tell the world about it? No.

She is very open about the fact that she is unmarried and yet the mother of a child. Veronica is taken care of by Gill’s aunt, who lives in Mumbai. This helps bring a certain stability to the child, especially with Gill traveling for shoots. When questioned why she kept this matter a secret from the world, the answer was simple. She wasn’t asked about it before.

What is the future of her though? Mahie Gill is currently unmarried and in a live-in relationship with her boyfriend, a Goa-based businessman. Now, that may be raising questions on if they plan to marry. Mahie Gill is putting the question behind her, and she has the right to. After all, the idea of marriage is a perspective and each one have their own idea about it. After a certain age, everyone has the liberty to their decision and their life choices that are run predominantly on their principles. While marriage is wonderful, it is also a choice, according to Mahie Gill. We second you on that, Gill.

However, Mahie Gill’s absence from the silver screen has been a matter of mystery to the media and movie buffs alike. This is no more a secret.

During the promotions of her recent movie, Mahie Gill revealed that she faced boredom with repetitive roles of an attractive wife who is either alcoholic or extremely bold. While her roles were critically acclaimed and appreciated, the deluge of similar roles made Mahie Gill see the dead end. As a result of waiting for better roles and good offers, Mahi Gill has been missing in action. That does make sense if you think about it. Several actors and actresses are seen in the same roles time and again, and when they finally decide to break out of the norm, their set image holds them back. Good call, Mahie Gill.

In recent times, however, Mahie Gill found her new “thing” while taking a little break from the silver screen— digital space. In recent years, the digital space has opened the doors to new dimensions and opportunities. Being constantly glued to her phone or tab, Mahie got into the habit of watching series and movies on the go. When boredom strikes, she has the option to choose a different option, which she considers as a means to feed today’s choice-hungry generation. With the power of variety available to all, Mahie Gill feels the need to constantly diversify in order to engage the audience and provide them with the best content.

Looking back, from 2003 to today, Mahie Gill has come a long way. While many may take any role that comes their way, Mahie Gill has been mature is hand-picking her roles. And, not just that. Even her decisions pertaining to motherhood and relationships are out-of-the-box and yet, not lacking practicality. It is true, after all. What one does with their life and decisions is their choice.
