Ah! You can almost smell the freshly baked laddoos and kaju katlis, right? Diwali, our favorite festival of the year is round the corner and we can’t wait to welcome the holiday season! One of the best things about the festival of lights is that you get to dress up to your hearts content. Be it a diya or a pataka, we’re sure Diwali is the best time to don your precious ethnic outfits. Still not sure what outfit and makeup to wear this Diwali? Well, don’t worry, as long as we’re here! We’ll help you find a look that you will love to wear this festive season. So, let’s dive in, right?

1. Simple Saree

If you want a simple look but also want to keep it traditional, why not go with a saree minus the bling? Saree is obviously one of the most preferred outfits for Indian festivals. But it’s not necessary that you have to dress up all glittery if you wear a saree. Wear something that you’re comfortable in, blow dry your hair and stick a pretty little bindi. Pair the look with a set of stone studs and soft makeup and you’re done! Just get your eyebrows filled, eyes lined, and lips colored. There you go — you have your simple saree look.

2. Elegant Saree

Kriti Sanon is giving you major saree goals in this picture. If you want to dress up a little fancy for this diwali, this is the look that you’ve got to pick. Wearing a well embroidered blouse and saree in a bright color will definitely light up your mood as well as your house. You can either pick a big, fancy chandbali or go for a traditional jhumka with this saree. A mid-rise bun or a fishtail plait would look good with this saree. If your saree has a plain body, you can wear a fancy neckpiece as well. But if you’re wearing a saree with heavy work on it, limit your accessories to just earrings and may be a single kada or bracelet. To add to the charm, wind a piece of gajra on your hair bun and stick a hair accessory in the center.

3. Classy Salwar

After saree, if there’s an outfit that tops the list of Indian festivals, it has to be the salwar suit. Now again, for the people who like to dress up classy and not fancy, this kind of a look is perfect. Lolo’s elegant salwar suit with the grand dupatta is #drool. If you’re opting for the big dupatta look, you’ve got to focus on your earrings more than any other accessory. Because your neck and wrists are most probably going to get shadowed by the dupatta, you’ve got to make it a point to wear eye catchy earrings. Bright eyes, highlighted nose, cheeks, and forehead, dark lips. and a pretty little bindi is all you need to make your face glowing. You can either leave your hair open, tie a bun, or get side ropes like Karishma did.

4. Fancy Suit

Taking cues from Tara Sutaria, here’s how a fancy suit without a lot of bling will look like. Well, you can go for the blings too, but we just love this all dark look of Tara. Pair a similar salwar suit with smokey eyes and some black metal jewelry, you’re ready to don a sultry look for that Diwali event.

5. Lehenga

Princess Bhatt is quite popular for her lehenga looks. Remember the parrot green lehenga that became viral? Her taste is quite beautiful when it comes to lehengas and she has proven it again with this yellow one! Even though she didn’t wear earrings, we suggest that you wear a big stone stud for this look, along with a giant neck piece. Keep your makeup neutral and eyelids golden with a hint of kohl. A messy bun with not a lot of bling on the hair will suit this style. Go with bright colored lehengas for this festive season because they are trending high.

6. Crop Top And Skirt

The latest cousin of lehenga gives you a slightly modern option to don. Depending upon the fabric and the design, crop tops and skirts can take up western or traditional look like a fancy chameleon. Over here, we have Shilpa Shetty in this beautiful golden avatar. Something in festive colors like red, golden, or pink can make you look heavenly and stylish without letting go of the traditional element. Leave your hair open and wear a pretty pair of low hanging earrings to rock this look. Also, choose golden or bright makeup along with your outfit.

Since it’s only a few days for Diwali, we suggest that you hurry if you want to get the perfect outfit stitched or bought readymade. Which one of these outfits did you like the most? What are you going to wear this Diwali? Let us know in the comments section below.
