Somebody rightly said, ‘Invest in your hair. It is a crown that you never take off!’ since our hair forms an integral part of us. A bad hair day, and you know how it drives you crazy, right? But what is worse than a bad hair day? Hair fall! Those strands, when they fall, each one tugs at your heartstrings. It’s not only painful but also stressful to see your hair falling each time you comb or wash your hair. So is hair fall normal, or are you pressing the alarm button a bit too soon? Experts say it is normal to lose 50 to 100 strands of hair each day. Anything beyond that might mean things are not too good. However, none of us counts each strand that falls. So how can you reach such a specific number? The solution lies in your intuition. You have been combing and washing your hair for ages. So you know how much hair fall you normally have. If you suddenly see an increase in it, do not panic. There is something also known as seasonal hair fall. Wait for a few days. If still, you find no improvement, you need to get serious about it. Easier said than done, right? It could be because of stress, medications, using harmful hair styling products, or even hereditary. So although consulting your dermatologist is the best thing that you can do, you can try some other things sitting right at home that can improve the situation.

And trust us, you are not alone. Even celebs have their fair share of hair issues. 2017 Miss World Manushi Chhillar, the brand ambassador of Pantene, has also had her fair share of struggles with hair fall. And like many of us, her issues did not start randomly. She attributes her fall issues to an increase in dryness resulting from extensive traveling and excessive heat and styling products used during beauty pageants. However, she decided to make things right by focussing on sustainable solutions and beautifying and strengthening her hair from deep inside. She also believes that following a healthy diet and hair care regimen helped make her hair healthier and stronger. Today, this brand ambassador of Pantene has changed the condition of her hair and now proudly boasts of long beautiful, silky hair.

So here are a few hair care tips shared by the beauty pageant queen that you might want to include in your hair care regime:

Follow A Simple Hair Regimen

Manushi does not believe in using many hair care products or styling gels on her hair. Her simple mantra on days when she does not have shoots or shows is wash and dry. She also advises natural drying over using a hairdryer since the latter can end up damaging the hair follicles.

Regularly Oil Your Hair:

She swears by the numerous benefits of oiling one’s hair. She has been oiling her hair regularly since childhood and feels it does wonders to the hair. Massaging your hair with warm oil helps provide the essential nutrients to the scalp and prevents scalp drying and hair breakage. It can also prevent premature greying by nourishing the hair follicles, which helps them retain their natural color. Further, when you massage your hair, it increases blood circulation, thereby stimulating hair growth.

Avoid Washing Your Hair Regularly:

Manushi advises washing of hair, not more than twice or thrice a week. She feels washing hair frequently can make the scalp dry, leading to dandruff. On the other hand, washing hair less often can help maintain its natural oils and keep it shiny and soft. However, regular hair washing might be required for those with an oily scalp to keep the scalp healthy.

Take A Break From Styling:

Although styling your hair might make you look great, it does have its fair share of adverse effects. The hair dryer or straightener might make your hair look perfect but is not too kind on your hair. Too much hot air or heat can damage the hair follicles and scalp, leading to hair fall. That is why Manushi suggests taking a break from hair styling products and equipment whenever possible.

Focus On What You Eat:

Manushi correctly points out that only external products cannot lead to healthy hair. One needs to focus on what one is eating for beautiful shiny locks which are healthy from deep within. Living a healthy lifestyle, consuming nutritious foods, and staying hydrated are three things she emphasizes for healthy skin and hair. Those who are wondering what kind of food to incorporate in their diet have come to the right place. Your diet should include eggs, berries, spinach, avocados, fatty fish, nuts, and seeds for healthy lustrous hair.

So to sum it up, Manushi Chhillar has led our focus to the basics of hair care which we usually tend to ignore. She has also rightly pointed out the importance of taking care of your hair not only externally but also from deep within. Did you find her hair care tips helpful? Let us know in the comments below.
