Love her or hate her, Mira Rajput has always been the media’s poster child for controversy. Ever since she tied the knot with ‘much-older’ Shahid Kapoor, she has been the subject of trolls for her controversial and often ignorant statements. Many people believe she is undeserving of the status she is receiving and she is often branded as a rich Delhi girl who doesn’t know what she’s saying. Here’s why she has landed in the hot water again.
Backlash For Her Recent Antics
The 24-year-old recently became the brunt of all jokes when she was spotted wearing a glamorous dress at a shoot. Many people chastised her for this and even compared her to Kareena Kapoor. Some netizens questioned what she had done to deserve a shoot in the first place. The fact that she had criticized women for choosing to work after having children earlier, and then gone out and landed endorsement deals on social media annoyed a lot of people. Instagram users cracked jokes about the ‘puppy’ part of her comment in the earlier interview and started referring to her two children with puppy emojis.
This isn’t even the second time Mira has been trolled. She earlier drew flak for endorsing an anti-ageing cream. The young mother was featured in an anti-ageing commercial by a leading beauty brand despite only being 24-years-old. She has recently been trying to encourage the vegan lifestyle and had posted a requirement for vegan chefs on her Instagram account. According to reports by The Mumbai Mirror, the young socialite is planning on opening a vegan restaurant in the plus Bandra-Juhu location of Mumbai. She is apparently on the lookout for spots and has been actively scouting the area.

Delhi College Girl Weds Bollywood Dreamboat
Many Shahid Kapoor fans were left heartbroken after the bachelor announced that he would be wedded to college-going Delhi girl Mira Rajput. The pair met through Shahid’s father, Pankaj Kapoor and Mira had been a family friend for many years. After his unsuccessful relationships with actresses, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, the actor had decided against getting married to a Bollywood actress. So what better way than to get married the traditional way?
After having a discussion with his parents, Shahid expressed interest in Mira and soon they started meeting each other on a regular basis. While Mira herself was a little skeptical about the marriage as they had a 12 year age gap, they eventually decided to tie the knot. Shahid kept things on the down-low when questioned about his relationship with Mira and didn’t want to reveal too much before the formal ceremony happened. The couple got engaged a short while after Mira graduated from college and tied the knot in December of 2015. Many were surprised by the hush-hush nature of their engagement and wedding, and many criticized the couple for their vast age gap. Considering Mira was so much younger, many questioned her true intentions behind wedding Shahid.
Kids And Interviews
Soon, the couple announced the arrival of their first child. Their daughter, Misha was born in 2016, and during an event for International Women’s Day, Mira made rather disparaging comments against working women. She said, “I don’t want to spend an hour with her and then rush to work. It’s not that I am not a woman of today. You don’t have to compromise on traditions and ideals to be modern. Why did I have her? She is not a puppy, you know. I want to be there for her as a mother; seeing her grow up cannot be quantified,”
This did not sit well with many working women out there who believe that since Mira comes from a place of privilege— being a Bollywood wife, she shouldn’t be spouting such statements. A former classmate of the socialite took to social media and sent her an open letter condemning her remarks. Many believe that since she has a silver spoon in her mouth and doesn’t need to work for a living, she’s using it to her advantage. Other netizens believe that her comments were aimed at Shahid’s ex- Kareena, who started working just a few months after delivering Taimur. Mira however, stood her ground and refused to apologize for her statements. Even Shahid tried to do some damage control by stating that his wife’s statements were taken out of context, but sadly, the damage had already been done.
Shahid’s Take On Everything
When GQ quizzed Shahid about Mira’s career plans, he claimed that his wife wanted to flip the script by having children early, letting them grow up and then pursuing whatever she wants to do.
While we believe every woman should have the right to choose whether she wants to work or not, we don’t support bullying and pitting women against each other. We hope Mira Rajput achieves whatever she wishes to accomplish in life and that she thinks twice before making any kind of statements about other women.
