Do you see blue, bulbous veins popping out on your legs and feet? Don’t be alarmed just yet! Sure, they look extremely scary, but they won’t do much more than cause an itch, make you feel heavy in the legs, or maybe even give rise to a dull pain (1). And before we forget and go all ‘medical-doctor’ on you, these bulging blue cord-like veins are actually known as varicose veins.

Varicose veins are fairly common and are generally caused due to old age, pregnancy or even obesity (2). In fact, varicose veins occur when blood accumulates in your veins and is unable to move in the right direction. This congestion of blood puts a lot of pressure on the veins, causing them to twist and bulge. Since superficial veins, i.e. the ones just under your skin on your feet and legs, do not have much muscular support, they are more likely to become varicose.

Even though they may not always cause a lot of discomfort, they can still be dangerous. Because these veins are swollen, they are unable to supply enough blood to your heart. And if this condition worsens, it can give rise to several complications such as internal bleeding, deep vein thrombosis, chronic venous deficiency and more (3).

If you wish to avoid such dire consequences, make sure you never delay the treatment of this condition. In fact, with passing time, the cure worsens from difficult to impossible. However, if you start the healing process as soon as you have been diagnosed, you can get rid of varicose veins for good and that too with simple natural remedies!

Here’s an easy-breezy natural remedy, made of just two ingredients that can help you get rid of varicose veins in no time!

Things You Will Need:

  • 1 cup of sheep milk
  • 1 bar of baby soap
  • A mixer grinder
  • A plastic container for storage

Directions:

  • Slice up the baby soap and add it to the milk.
  • Grind the mixture till it turns into a thick and uniform paste. Make sure there are no lumps in the concoction.
  • Now pour the mixture into a plastic container and store it in your refrigerator for everyday use.

How To Apply:

Once you take the concoction out of the refrigerator, you will see that it is kind of semi-frozen. Scoop a little bit out and wrap it in a towel to make a cold compress. Apply on the affected areas thrice a day till you start seeing results. However, don’t stop the use of this natural remedy till your varicose veins disappear.

If sheep milk is hard to find, worry not! There are a couple of other natural remedies for varicose veins that you can try. We have discussed the most effective ones below.

Other Natural Remedies For Varicose Veins

1. Mud Pack

If the above treatment didn’t work for you, you can try a simple mudpack to cure yourself of this malady. ‘Fuller’s earth’ (or Multanimitti) which is readily available in the market is the clay you need for this mudpack.

Mix a sufficient quantity of fuller’s earth (that will be enough to cover the affected area) with water to form a thick paste. Apply this mudpack to the affected area everyday before going to bed. This pack will help bring about a reduction in the size of the enlarged veins. As it dries off, you will feel a tightening effect similar to that of compression, which will help constrict your dilated vessels and bring about blood flow.

Warning: Do not use this pack if you have varicose veins along with ulcers. Even though fuller’s earth is sterile, it will be wiser to consult your doctor first.

2. Grape Seed Extract

Another remedy you can give a shot involves the use of grape seed extracts. This extract not only contains antioxidant properties but also happens to berich in flavonoids, vitamin E and linoleic acid. Moreover,it contains something called as ‘oligomericproanthocyanidin complexes’ (okay, this is super tough to pronounce), which is basically a type of antioxidant that has vasoprotective properties (4).

With these extracts, you can prevent the damage caused to your veins by free radicals. Plus, it promotes collagen production, which is a type of protein that improves the elasticity of connecting tissues and strengthens the veins. What’s more? It can even reduce inflammation.

For this remedy, all you have to do is get grape seed powder that has an OPC content of 95% at the least. You can either apply this powder to the affected area or consume it orally.

The above remedies are quite simple and can provide immense relief from the symptoms of varicose veins. Along with these remedies, make sure you follow the right diet and exercise daily to cure and prevent varicose veins.
