These 5 Natural Ways Can Help You Reduce And Remove Unwanted Body Hair

Written by Chandrama Deshmukh •

You know what our favorite time of the year is? Winters. Not because Christmas happens during this season (Though this is one of the major reasons too!), but because the weather demands that we wear clothes that cover us fully and shield us from the chills. You know what that means, right? It means that no one’s going to notice even if there’s a furry personal jungle growing on your arms and legs! But come summer, all the body hair must go because how else would you flaunt those sleeveless and short summer dresses without running the risk of traumatizing some unsuspecting soul?

Of course, there is a lot of debate over this, where feminists claim that forcing women to be ‘hair-free’ is just another way of objectifying women and enslaving them to another unnatural and (kind of) ridiculous beauty norm. We are totally okay if you are someone who holds that belief and chooses not to shave or go through the torture of waxing every month. We are also totally okay if you aren’t too fond of your hair because, hey! It’s your choice and you’re free to do what you like with your body.

But no matter which group you belong to, we can all agree on one thing – this whole process of keeping hair away is not just painful but also a bother. Because no matter what we do, those pesky little things just keep coming back! I mean, yes, we can opt to go to the best and safest salons to get our monthly waxing done, but the pain is still going to be the same, right? And doesn’t shaving make your pores huge, and your skin exceptionally dry?

So, what are we to do? Is there no way in which this hair debacle can be tackled? Of course, there is! In fact, there are. What we’re trying to say is that there are many ways in which we can say goodbye to body hair woes without having to go through torture. And here’s the best part: they are all natural too!

1. Haldi And Gulab Jal

Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? And in case you are someone who hasn’t heard of these two things, they are your easily available turmeric and rose water. Make a paste using these two ingredients and apply where applicable or where you want to be absolutely hairless. Keep it on till it dries, then wash it off with warm water.

And no, all your hair will not magically disappear from those areas. You will have to do this regularly, at least once a week, in order to see results. But, hey, patience pays! Plus, this is absolutely painless and also a one hundred percent natural technique, with absolutely no ill-effects on your skin.

2. Honey, Lemon, And Sugar

Already feeling sticky reading that? That’s right, this remedy is a sticky business, and may also involve some amount of pain, but trust us. It is way better (and much more permanent) than your run-of-the-mill waxing!

Take equal parts honey, lemon juice, and sugar, and heat the mixture till it becomes slightly runny. If too thin, add corn flour to get the correct consistency. And if it gets too thick, well, there is always water! Let the mixture cool down a little before applying it to your skin’s hairy parts. Then place a clean, thin cloth on it and rip it off really quick. This technique is very much like waxing and if you have experience with that, this should be a piece of cake for you!

3. Dal And Aloo

This article is almost seeming like a recipe for some yummy curry now, isn’t it? But that’s the secret of all beauty remedies – they can all be easily found in the kitchen! Though this one requires a little more effort as compared to the other ones.

You’ll have to soak the dal overnight and crush it in the morning. As for the potato, you’ll have to wash it, peel it, and then extract its juice. Once both the required elements are ready, you’ll have to mix both along with honey and lemon juice and apply on the hairy parts of your skin. After it dries on your skin (or after about 20 minutes), just scrub it off and all the hair from that portion should also come off.

4. Unripe Papaya And Turmeric

The first thing that comes to our minds when you say raw papayas, is Thailand and its awesome salads. (Maybe you can keep half the papaya for the salad and use the other half for hair removal!) All you have to do is make a paste of raw papaya, mix it with turmeric, and you know the drill: apply, dry, wash. You must do this at least twice a week for all the hair to eventually disappear.

5. Cornstarch With Egg

Just like the second remedy in this list, this one too is an organic wax, so to say. Mix some eggs with cornstarch, apply on the skin, and let dry for about half an hour, then rip it off your skin (just as you would a waxing strip). The only difference is that you do not need a piece of cloth or paper for the ripping.
