Fresh faces are introduced to Bollywood every year, and it’s something most of us movie buffs look forward to. However, this is not your ordinary year now, is it? It’s no secret that the film industry has taken a significant hit during these uncertain times. And while many may look at big-screen names and say, “How will it affect them when they are already rich?”, we must also consider the spot boys, set designers, make-up artists, and many more who will suffer due to the restrictions. Since the pandemic is still looming over our heads and causing havoc across the nation, most film shoots have reached a standstill. Even after some films were allowed to resume shooting, cinema halls were not permitted to re-open due to the fear of the spread. Many have started releasing their movies on OTT platforms. So if you’re wondering who the latest newcomers to Bollywood will be, here is a list of seven upcoming actors to keep on your radar in 2021:
1. Manushi Chhillar
In November of 2019, it was announced that the former Miss World, Manushi Chillar, was set to make her debut in the acting world. Manushi brought home the crowd after nearly 17 years. Before Manushi, it was Priyanka Chopra who won the crown. Manushi is set to make her acting debut in the film, Prithviraj. She will be starring as Akshay Kumar’s love interest in the movie. When asked about the role, Manushi spoke about how she was excited to be playing the role of a historical character and stated that the film would embrace an important chapter in India’s history. Prithviraj is set to be released around Diwali of this year.
2. Ahan Shetty
A lot has been said about the ever-so-handsome, Ahan Shetty. The younger brother of Athiya Shetty and son of Suniel Shetty is set to make his debut in the film Tadap. It is said to be a remake of a wildly popular Telugu film, RX100. The producers of Tadap recently dropped the first poster for the film and revealed its name. The film is described as a fantastical love story and will also star Student Of The Year 2 star, Tara Sutaria. Ahan recently shared a cute picture of him fist-bumping the director of the film and shared a sweet note for the cast and crew. He thanked the entire team for the amazing memories and thanked people for pushing him to work hard. Tadap is set to be released in late September.
3. Shirley Setia
Shirley is an incredibly talented singer whose covers went viral on YouTube and shot her to overnight stardom. She is now a social media sensation and has even acted in the Netflix film, Maska alongside Manisha Koirala. She is currently set to star in her first lead role, alongside Abimanyu Dassani of Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota fame. The film, called Nikamma, is directed by Sabbir Khan and will also mark the return of Shilpa Shetty Kundra after more than ten years of hiatus.
4. Shalini Pandey
Arjun Reddy was not just a game-changer for Vijay Devarakonda, but it also opened doors for Shalini Pandey, the female lead. Her innocence and docile persona won the hearts of not just Telugu audiences, but audiences across the country. Thanks to the film’s success, Shalini is set to star alongside Ranveer Singh in the YRF film, Jayeshbhai Jordaar. We hope to see her shine in the film and show more facets of her acting skills. The film is based in Gujarat, and its release date is set for late August of this year.
5. Rashmika Mandanna
After delivering some incredible hits in both Kannada and Telugu cinema, Rashmika is now going to be making her debut in Bollywood. She will be starring opposite Siddharth Malhotra in an upcoming film called Mission Manju. The cast of the film is shooting in Lucknow at the moment. Mission Manju is inspired by real-life events and is an espionage thriller.
Set to a similar premise as the original Dostana film, Dostana 2 is set to star two men and one girl in the leading role. Recently, the film came to the media’s attention after the unceremonious firing of one of the leads, Kartik Aaryan. While the film is set to resume without him, we are eager to see who will be starring in the lead role alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya. If you are a fan of television soaps, then Lakshya will be a familiar face to you as he has starred in shows like Pyar Tune Kya Kiya and Adhuri Kahani Hamari.
7. Pranitha Subhash
Pranitha Subhash is a versatile actress who has already established herself in the South Indian film industry and has appeared in numerous Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu films. After witnessing her incredible performances in these industries, the filmmakers behind Bhuj: The Pride Of India signed her on to act alongside Ajay Devgn. The film is a historical war drama and will mark Pranitha’s debut in the Hindi film industry. Pranitha’s second film, Hungama 2, which is directed by Priyadarshan, also wrapped up recently.
