There often comes a time in life where we feel a little misplaced. You might be someone who genuinely is forgetful and tends to leave things lying around, or you might just be going through a dull phase. You would want to make sure that everything in your life is still going on track, and you would want to catch any signs of slacking off on your end. When you work from home, you might often feel like you’re losing track of time because you’re still not used to working from a home environment. However, we should not let this affect the way we work and our deadlines. So here are nine signs that you need to get your sh** together stat!

1. You Accidentally Forget A Meeting

Sure, you might’ve had a legitimate reason like being sick or tending to a sick family member. However, missing a meeting just because you “rolled out of bed late” or forgot the scheduled time is a stupid excuse. Meetings have been put in place for a reason, and now due to lack of workplace social interaction, they’re the only kinds that involve any form of face-to-face interaction with your colleagues. They might get dragged on, but it’s better than having no contact at all and following a mechanical routine, right?

2. You Forget What You Own

Have you ever gone grocery shopping, picked up laundry detergent, and come home to find that you had already stored a bottle away? If you find this relatable, then it is definitely a good sign that you need to get your finances and grocery lists in check. Sure, you might think that an extra bottle of detergent won’t hurt, but why waste money when it is not needed?

3. You Keep Misplacing Your Basic Necessities

Most of us have misplaced our wallets and our phones at some point, and that’s a little irresponsible, but totally normal. However, if you find yourself buying new wallets every few months or wake up to discover your phone missing often, you might have a genuine problem. It’s a good idea to get an NFC tracker or carry a pouch around, so you don’t keep misplacing your belongings.

4. Chores Stress You Out

Sure, nobody really enjoys doing chores, and everyone would prefer doing a leisure activity over it. Now that you’re an adult, you have to buck up and do your tasks. After all, if you live with your parents, you can’t expect them to handle the heavy load. However, there are things you can do to incorporate more fun into your chores. Next time you decide to mop your house, get out your wireless headphones and groove to some pop and hip-hop. Maybe try some Bollywood too? There’s nothing like grooving to some classic “Disco Deewane” while washing your dishes!

5. Decluttering Is Foreign To Your Vocabulary

Being a hoarder is no fun! Sure, you might have sentimental value attached to certain things, but you’ll only truly know once you let go of these things. If you don’t use certain things, it’s a good idea to donate it to a charity or an orphanage in need. If that is too much for you, you could also give nice old clothes to your maid or your friend’s maid. They would always appreciate the extra help. Especially during this time.

6. Locating Everyday Items Is A Hassle

Do you often find yourself rummaging through your drawers in order to find things? Do you tend to misplace everyday things like coffee powder or your work mug? Well then, you just might be a disorganized person. It’s a good idea to dedicate certain places for particular items. Don’t take your spice box out of the kitchen or take your wallet into the kitchen.

7. You Get Distracted Easily

Besides being really horrid looking, clutter can be a significant distraction for you. How can you focus on finishing the task at hand when you have tonnes of other tasks piling up in the corner. If you’re the type of person who gets distracted quickly, it’s a good idea to declutter before starting your day. Routine is the only way to get your life and schedule back in regular shape.

8. You Get Overwhelmed Often

At some point, we’ve all felt like we’ve had a mountain of work piled on top of our heads. Whether that’s household chores or office work, it tends to make us feel like we’ve got the weight of the world’s burden on our shoulders. It’s essential to observe your daily stressors and try to eliminate them. We often get overwhelmed when we have a lot of workload, but once we learn to control it, things get more comfortable.

9. You Feel Ashamed Of Your Space

If the idea of inviting a friend home petrifies you to the extent that you feel sick, you definitely need to clean your space. There’s nothing wrong with being a messy person, but you need to make sure your home is still clean enough to accomodate guests. After all, you don’t want to be branded as a slob, right?

At the end of the day, the only way for you to be an organized person is to change your outlook towards chores and responsibilities. Even if you have someone who does your chores for you now, there might come a time in life when all the things you take for granted might not be available to you.
