10 Obviously Painful Truths Everyone Forgets Too Soon

Humans are one of the sharpest beings blessed with an excellent memory. At least, that’s what we think. The reality, however, is not what any of us might expect. We humans actually forget a lot. Not just everyday mundane things, but harsh truths about life that we pretend do not exist. The list below explains it all.

1. The Average Human Life Is Relatively Short

We are mortal beings that get hurt, bleed, feel pain, and get sick. Yet, we seem to forget all about it, and carry on with our lives, until the death of someone we know shocks us. It sneaks up on us, like a lingering mugger in the alley on a dark night. The fear of dying makes us forget about it. Stop fearing, start living.

2. You Live The Life You Create For Yourself

In spite of being taught from an early age that our actions get reflected upon us, we all grow up assuming that others are responsible for shaping our lives. Yes, they do advise, give their opinions, and a rare push here and there, but what we truly make of our lives depends solely on us.

3. Being Busy Does Not Mean Being Productive

Just because you are busy and fail to attend your niece’s piano recital on a Sunday afternoon, you do not classify as a productive human being. It’s only a sign that you do not know how to prioritize your time and work, as a result of which it all ends up piling up and taking away all your awake hours. Time management is key.

4. Some Kind Of Failure Always Occurs Before Success

Failure does bring down a lot of people. One bad streak of luck, and we think life will never look good again. That is, however, not true. Learn from your failures, but look ahead. There is success right around the corner. A positive attitude will attract prosperity and happiness.

5. Thinking And Doing Are Two Very Different Things

Had a moment of eureka with a brilliant idea? Don’t just keep sitting there and mulling over your supreme powers of ideation. Act on them. Create a plan of action, translate your thoughts and schemes into reality, and enjoy the rush that comes with accomplishing something. Be a doer, and watch your life unfold.

6. You Don’t Have To Wait For An Apology To Forgive

Want to live a happier life with the least amount of negativity? Start forgiving each one of those who hurt you, or did you wrong. Just because they cannot muster up the courage to ask for forgiveness, it doesn’t mean you cannot forgive them. Forget the past and move on. The weight from your shoulders will be lifted, and you will be more content with yourself.

7. Some People Are Simply The Wrong Match For You

The people you are surrounded with may not always be perfect for you. Be it your friends, cousins, or a partner, if they are bringing you down, cut the cord and move on. It might be the best thing you will ever do for yourself. Be daring and take the reins of your life in your hands.

8. It’s Not Other People’s Job To Love You, It’s Yours

Being dependent on others for how you feel about yourself is the worst thing that we do. We always forget that the idea of who we are and how we see ourselves should come from within. We need to stop relying on other’s opinions about us and start creating our own pedestal.

9. What You Own Is Not Who You Are

We are all driven to be the ultimate consumer. Today, it’s a designer handbag, tomorrow, a luxury sports car, and after that, a villa in the sky. When will it stop? The answer is when you put a halt to it. Owning these objects will not change who you are. Work on your personality and spiritual health for a successful you.

10. Everything Changes, Every Second

Nothing lasts forever, and some things don’t last for more than a day. Change is that one constant we keep forgetting about, even though it is all around us as a regular reminder. The moment we learn to remember that, we will be more comfortable when the rug gets pulled off from under our feet.

If we start paying attention to these simple truths, and instead of ignoring them out of fear, learn to embrace them in all their harshness, we will be human beings that are finely tuned to take on any obstacle, shock, and surprise that life has to offer.
