If you grew up in the 90s and early 2000s in India, you know exactly what we’re talking about. Television actors were the craze back in the day. Of course, we loved our movie stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan who were also super popular but tv stars were people we saw on our screens every day. Do you still remember your favorite TV actors? Maybe this article will help refresh your memory. So here’s a list of seven television actors who lit up our screens and whom we still love dearly:

1. Harshad Chopda

This handsome actor stole the hearts of thousands if not millions of Indian girls when he starred in the shows, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil and Left Right Left. In Left Right Left he played the charming Cadet Ali Baig and featured alongside a bunch of other new talents. Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil featured him in the role of Prem Juneja and his on-screen chemistry with the character Heer was super special to watch. This was one of his most popular roles to date and the one that turned him into a household name. Harshad was last seen on the popular TV show, Bepannah in 2018.

2. Cezanne Khan

Cezanne Khan is mostly remembered for starting as the heartthrob Anurag Basu in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. In the show, he played the love interest of Shweta Tiwari and their chemistry was pretty insane. Although Cezanne acted in a few other shows like Seeta Aur Geeta, Ek Ladki Anjaani, and Piya Kay Ghar Jana Hai, he is best known for playing Anurag Basu, we still do miss seeing him on our screens. It has been a full decade since he graced our TV screens.

3. Rajeev Khandelwal

You’d be lying if you told us you watch Indian TV shows and didn’t develop the biggest crush on this actor. Rajeev first stole our hearts when he appeared on the show, Kahiin To Hoga. After his appearance on this show, he gained tonnes of fans across the country and people went head over heels for his skills on screen. He was also featured as a lead role in the films Shaitan, Aamir, and Table No. 21., among many others. Rajeev truly seems to defy aging and he was last seen in the web series Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala.

4. Mohit Sehgal

If you watched the show Miley Jab Hum Tum, then you probably recognize Mohit Sehgal as the popular college hottie, Samrat. Mohit also made a special guest appearance in the show Dill Mill Gayye. Although he did play quite a few lead roles in the 2000s, not many did as well as expected. He was last seen on the dance reality show, Nach Baliye.

5. Karan Singh Grover

While Karan is often known for playing the bad, broody guy, we have to admit that there is a certain charm to him. Sure, we may not have always enjoyed his personality, but he was certainly a heartthrob for many women out there. He established himself as a tough guy who is a  softie on the inside with his role as Dr. Armaan Malik in the show Dill Mill Gaye. In the show, he played the lead character’s love interest and colleague. The actor even starred in the Bollywood thriller film Alone opposite his future wife and then-girlfriend, Bipasha Basu.

6. Arjun Bijlani

Who can forget the hottest of cadets, Cadet Alekh Sharma? While the show Left Right Left might have gained him minor recognition, it was his role as the handsome and super intelligent college guy Mayank in Miley Jab Hum Tum that made us stop and stare. Arjun is known for his rugged looks and intense, deep eyes. He has acted in not just television shows but many web series and even a Bollywood film, Direct Ishq. The last web-series that Arjun featured in was State of Siege: 26/11.

7. Ronit Roy

You can’t make a list of handsome TV actors without including the iconic and unique Ronit Roy. Ronit made a name for himself on Indian television screens when he played the role of Rishabh Bajaj, a handsome and ruthless businessman in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. If you were someone who was attracted to success, then your first television crush was most likely Ronit Roy. The handsome actor has not only graced the television screens and won multiple awards, but he has also acted in many many Bollywood films. Although Ronit made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Jaan Tere Naam, it wasn’t until his role in Udaan in 2010, that people truly took notice of his incredible and versatile acting skills. Ronit has since won a Filmfare award for Best Supporting Actor in Udaan and was nominated for the same award for another role in the film, 2 States.

While they don’t make actors the same way as they did back in those days and television viewership has slowly declined over the years, we have to admit that those were the good days. Sure, streaming platforms offer a lot of variety as well, but it is totally different from the experience of growing up watching television serials in an Indian home. Do you agree with our list?
