  • Purchase all the supplies you need for it.
  • Eat only steamed or oven-cooked food.
  • Gulp down 100-150g of food each hour.
  • Have fresh parsley or lemon water the first thing in the morning to kick-start a light day.

  • Skip the gym or working out at home on a light day.
  • Have 2 consecutive light days or spread them out with a gap of 2-3 days.

The purpose of having light days in your schedule is to help bring about the activation of enzymes that break down the fats in your body. You can have cream or milk for that. Take about 500-700ml of milk or low-fat cream and split it into 5 equal parts for 5 meals. You can have about 150ml of coffee with 50g of whipped cream too.

Ideally, you should choose a day in the summer to carry out your light days as you don’t feel very hungry during this season. And when you do eat, any one fresh fruit or veggie should be a part of your platter. For example, if you intend to have apples, divide 1.5kg of this fruit into 5 meals and have them 3 hours apart. Do the same with 500g of dried fruits, 2kg of watermelon and 200g of oats if you want to have any one of them instead. Apple juice is good for your digestive system though (2). You could also substitute the options given above with juices made of veggies such as carrot, celery, cabbage, cucumber, etc.

Protein light days are the easiest to carry out as protein-rich foods digest slowly and curb appetite. If you’re a vegetarian, you can have a combo of 500g of fat-free cottage cheese with 100g of honey, divided into 5 equal meals for the day. Non-vegetarians can have 400g of boiled lean meat such as turkey or chicken breast (without skin) or fish. Remember to split it into 5 meals though.

Eating one single type of food all through the day can be tough. Hence, you can opt for combined meals for your light days. For example, you could have sugar and salt-free rice porridge made of 75g of rice and 450ml of skimmed milk. You could have a kilo of apples throughout the day along with it.

A detoxification ritual can also help you lose weight and improve skin quality, especially if you’re suffering from problems like digestive issues, fatigue, headaches, allergies, etc. In fact, these problems demand a detoxification of your body.
