8 Perfectly Reasonable Things All Girls Get Jealous Over

Well, you don’t need to read Shakespeare to know that jealousy, indeed, is a green-eyed monster that devours its victims happily. And sure, when it comes to jealousy, the trope of the ‘jealous wife’ or the ‘jealous girlfriend’ immediately comes to one’s mind. But, is jealousy that bad an emotion that we need to negate its existence completely?
Before you rack your brains or fry your colleagues’ brain in the chai-break discussing the validity of your jealous emotions, let’s look at those situations where the green-eyed monster is not an unwelcome guest.
1. When The Partner Is In A Committed Relationship With Your Phone
Yes, we know it’s the 21st century, and to be connected 24×7 (on-the-go) is the need of the hour. We also know that you need to stay connected in case your boss needs you for a work emergency. We know all of that, but you need to understand that we, the women folk, feel neglected when you choose to stare at your phone while having coffee with us. This goes for boyfriends, guy-friends and, girl-friends too! So, the next time you are staring at that screen and your girl flies off the handle, it is best to switch on the airplane mode and direct all your energy in pacifying the green-eyed beast.
2. When The Gang Comes First
It is perfectly fine and even healthy for people in relationships to have different friend circles and peer groups. It’s with them that you can rant and rave about work, relationships, and generally your life as a whole. But this does not mean that your gang becomes your go-to for everything and your girl has no clue about what is happening in your life. So, the next time you want to discuss that latest Game of Thrones episode, call her. She might have better theories!
3. The Presence Of The Not-So-Distant Ex
Relationships are a significant part of human life and we all have them. But, like all things in life, these are also transient. However, once you enter into a relationship, you should do so with a clean slate. This cannot happen if you have the nagging presence of an ex. You know this is the ex with whom you had a profound connection but things did not work out somehow. The presence here doesn’t refer to him being physically around you, it’s got to do with your friends talking about him/her when there isn’t actually a need to do so. These constant reminders and mentions won’t allow you to move on and are actually a valid reason for your partner to become red.
4. When The Man Is Too Fond Of Playing The Knight In Shining Armour
Most girls wish for a gentle and chivalrous partner and there is nothing wrong in desiring that. If your partner ends up being the knight for someone else, it is a matter of pride. However, if it happens way too much then you are bound to be a little peeved. And if the damsel-in-distress is the pushy girl-friend who is in constant need of assistance, then you are bound to be jealous and rightly so!
5. When She Is The Last One To Know
Picture this, your friend is getting married and you get to know about it only after you’ve received the invite in the mail, what would be your reaction? Most of us will be mad, but will be a little tolerant thinking there might be a valid reason behind it. Now, imagine all your friends knew about a certain subject beforehand, and you are the only one who did not. It pinches, right? So, it cannot be called weird if she feels jealous when she is the last person to know of any major developments in your life.
6. When The Man Doesn’t Care About His Appearance
We’ve heard that, “Clothes make the man,” right? And if you happen to go all easy with your dressing when you’re with your girl, but you dress up sophisticated when you’re out with someone else, she surely can feel under-appreciated. It gives the message that unlike other things in your life, she is not worth the effort.
7. When The Man Loves Being The Centre Of Attention
Everybody needs validation, and you are, after all, human. There is no harm in enjoying the waitress flirt with you while collecting the check, or letting the girl-next-door appreciate your smile. But if this is a habit, you don’t really get to complain when your woman gives you the silent treatment. This is an indicator to her that her time and attention is not enough for you.
8. She Is The Last Thing On Your Mind
You don’t check with her before making any plans or you assume that she is going to be available for whatever you have planned or wish to plan in the future. This signifies that you have taken her for granted, and unlike other things in your life, she ranks quite low on the priority scale. This gives her a genuine reason to be miffed.
All in all, it is not that women are more prone to jealousy. They just need to be reassured about their place in your life. And doing that once in a while or always can’t really be a big task, right?
