Our feet and hands are the parts of our body that get tanned the fastest. Not sure? Just check the skin tone of your feet and that of your thighs. The difference is quite shocking, isn’t it? Well, this is quite normal, because your hands, legs, and face get exposed to the sun the most. The dust and pollution in the atmosphere attack these areas since they are mostly remain uncovered. However, we care for our face more than our feet and hands, which is why the effects of these external factors aren’t visible on our face to that extent.

Having tanned feet can be embarrassing when you wear flip flops or heels that clearly show the tanned skin on your feet. As they say, a person’s feet and footwear is something that people notice real quick. And, you don’t want anyone thinking why the skin on your feet look zebra skin, right? So, if you haven’t been taking care of your feet, it’s time to make changes in your beauty regime. Since prevention is better than cure, we recommend you to get regular manicures and use a sunscreen lotion every day before you step out. Also, wash your feet thoroughly after you get back home and moisturize it right after. With that being said, let’s take a look at how to remove tan from your feet in case you’re reading this article too late.

1. Tomato Tan Removal Scrub

Tomatoes are not just good on your sandwich; they can do wonders on your skin, as well! They are known to be a natural bleaching agent and can help remove tan pretty fast. So, try cutting a piece of tomato and rubbing it on your feet for a while or make a tomato tan removal scrub for the purpose. All you need to do is to squeeze the juice out of a tomato, mix it with a spoon full of sugar crystals and then gently rub it on your feet. Leave it on for about half an hour and wash with cold water. Repeat this process every two days to get rid of tan ASAP.

2. Lemon And Honey Feet Mask

As we all know, lemon is a very strong bleaching agent. We often use it on our face to get rid of tan and to make the skin look brighter. Well, the same thing can be used on the feet as well. Just squeeze out the juice from one lemon, mix one tablespoon of honey to it. Apply this mixture on your feet and leave it on for twenty minutes. Now, rinse it off with plain water and moisturize your feet with a lotion or coconut oil. Apply this mixture daily until your skin tone becomes even.

3. Potato For Tan Removal

Potatoes are excellent tan removers. It’s loaded with vitamins, fibers, and minerals that can not only remove tan, but also make your skin super healthy. If you regularly use potato for your skin, you will be able to notice a steady clearing up of blemishes and dark spots from your face in just days! All you have to do is to extract the juice out of half a potato and apply it on your feet. A quick massage with the juice will be great, because it will increase the blood flow in your feet and also make you feel relaxed. Repeat this process every day and see the stubborn tan vanish.

4. Apple Cider Vinegar For Tan Removal

Apple cider vinegar is filled with beauty benefits and it can remove tan pretty effectively. This is the easiest and least messy way of tan removal in case you don’t have the time for scrubbing or feet masking. Just apply some diluted apple cider vinegar on your feet twenty minutes prior to getting into the shower. Do this every day and you’ll see the results in a week.

5. Masoor Dal Honey Feet Scrub

Mix two spoons of masoor dal (red lentils) powder with one spoon of raw honey. Apply this paste on your feet and gently scrub for a few minutes. Let it dry and then wash it off. Masoor dal feet scrub will not only remove tan, but it will also make your feet soft and supple. Apply the mask thrice a week to get noticeable results.

6. Papaya Feet Mask

Papaya has been used by our mothers and grandmothers since their teenage owing to its skin lightening properties. It gives your skin a golden glow and helps lighten it. Mash a small piece of ripe papaya with a spoon and mix some honey in the paste. Apply this paste on your feet and wash it off after thirty minutes. Repeat the process every day for a week to see visible results.

Yogurt, cucumber, and oatmeal can also be added to the above DIY remedies to remove tan. However, some popular ingredients like coconut oil and aloe vera will soothe your sunburns but cannot remove tan. So, if your skin is irritated from sun exposure, the first thing to do is to get it healed. Only then you should focus on tan removal.
