This pandemic has caused a lot of us to be unsure about our future plans and those of us who have tied the knot during this time, have had to face added restrictions. These “corona couples” have had to either delay their honeymoon plans or they’ve had to learn to adjust around the restrictions that have been put in place. Since travel guidelines and restrictions are constantly fluctuating, we can understand that you might be hesitant about how to proceed. So if you are planning on celebrating your honeymoon during this time, but want to be as careful as possible, we have some important tips that you have to keep in mind:

1. Keep A Track On Travel Restrictions

If you are from a state that has been particularly hit by COVID, you need to keep in touch with the news and find out what the international/national travel guidelines are. Many states have advised against international travel to curb the number of cases and prevent the virus from spreading between state lines. You should keep this in mind before you plan to travel.

2. Try Something Local

If you are unsure about traveling internationally or your state has banned traveling to your dream honeymoon destination, think about going to a local honeymoon destination. India has plenty of beautiful spots that one can visit to celebrate their honeymoon that feels just like going abroad. Spots like the Lakshadweep islands, Coorg, Ladakh, and more are some of the places you can check out.

3. Narrow Down Your Destination List

It can be difficult to choose the perfect honeymoon spot but it is important to keep in mind that you should narrow things down based on accessibility and safety. Also make sure that you find out what the restrictions in the place you plan on vacationing in are. It’s also important that you avoid any tourist traps and make sure that you are in an area that is easy to travel around in.

4. Be Upfront About Your Needs

It is important to communicate and be upfront about all your needs. Make sure you involve your family members in the planning process as well and ask for their advice. If you are planning on making use of a travel agent and a guide, let them know ahead of time everything that you will require. It’s also a good idea to seek out travel insurance in case things take a turn for the worse on your trip.

5. Follow All Safety Protocols

Regardless of where you decide on traveling to, you need to make sure that you follow all safety protocols and precautions that have been put into place. Yes, the vaccine is right around the corner, but it is important to remember that the pandemic is not over yet. Always wear a mask and carry a spare one just in case you lose it. Make sure you are constantly sanitizing your hands, disinfecting surfaces, practicing social distancing, using digital payment modes and avoiding making use of self-checkout kiosks as much as possible.

6. Do A Road Trip Instead

A road trip during the pandemic is probably going to be your safest bet and it’s a good idea to do so. Plus, isn’t it fun to just hit the road with your loved ones and have a blast in the process? We’d advise you to take your own vehicle for the journey and avoid making too many stops along the way. It’s also important to ensure that you pick up travel permits for every state that you might plan on hitting during your journey.

7. Keep The Itinerary Simple

Remember, quality over quantity. Rather than hitting twenty different places in two days, narrow down your list to maybe 10 places instead. It’s important that you slow down and take time out to cherish the locations that you plan on visiting. In the end, your honeymoon is about making memories and spending quality time together, and not trying to check as many places off your checklist as possible.

8. Be Mindful Of What You Post On Social Media

Remember, just because you are on your honeymoon, doesn’t mean you have to get all 1000 of your Instagram followers along for the ride. Sure, you can post a few pictures or maybe some highlights from your trip, but keep in mind that many people have lost their jobs, loved ones, mental health, homes and much more during this pandemic. Yes, your honeymoon is important and a pandemic shouldn’t stop you from making these memories, but preferably keep most of them to yourself.

9. Make Sure You Get Tested Before And After

It is important that you get tested before and after your trip. Getting tested before your trip is extremely important especially if you had your wedding during the past few weeks before your honeymoon and invited a lot of people. Getting tested after your trip is important so that you avoid spreading the disease to your loved ones or any vulnerable people you may know.

At the end of the day, we can understand that you would want to celebrate your honeymoon in the best possible way that you can. However, you should keep these tips in mind to ensure that you have the very best (and safe) honeymoon experience under these circumstances.
