Every hardcore fan of South Indian cinema is probably a huge fan of Samantha Akkineni. And even if you aren’t a big fan of hers, you probably know she’s one half of Tollywood’s most loved duo ChaySam. The couple is known for giving all their fans serious #couplegoals. 2019 has been an excellent year for the pair, especially for Samantha. The year was aligned with back to back blockbusters for the superstar. In fact, she delivered not one, not two but three hits in a single year. The stunning actress wooed her fans through her intense roles in Oh Babu, Super Deluxe and Majili.
Proud Of Her Hard Work
The talented Tollywood superstar took to her Instagram to share a beautifully designed collage of all three of her 2019 successful box office films. The actress wrote, “2019. The year that has been grateful. Dream big, work hard and count your blessings.”
Samantha was featured in the chart-topping films- Majili, opposite her now-husband Naga Chaitanya and Super Deluxe with South Indian superstar, Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. Samantha and her hubby Chaitanya sharing screen space for the first time after marriage is a pretty big deal for all their fans and their movie, Majili was much anticipated.
An exciting piece of news for Samantha Akkineni is that she will soon be making her Hindi debut in a much anticipated online website series. The actress had recently finished wrapping up shooting for her upcoming Telugu film Janu which also starred Sharwanand. The film is set to be released in 2020 and is a Telugu remake of the hit Tamil film 96. The original movie has starred another one of Samantha’s co-stars, Vijay Sethupathi in the lead role. His lead co-star was actress Trisha Krishnan.
Her Fairytale Wedding
The actress and her lovely husband, Naga Chaitanya had dated for around eight years according to their friends and other loved ones. The reel pair who had shared the screen on not just one or two but five movies decided to finally let destiny play its hand and tied the knot in two ceremonies, a Hindu wedding followed by a Christian service on the 7th of October 2017. Talk about bringing in the new year on a happy note. The gorgeous actress is always sharing loved up couple goal-worthy images of the pair all over her Instagram. The adorable couple is still totally supportive of each other’s career, and their fans see them as real inspirations.
Naga Chaitanya’s Take On His Wife’s Success
In September 2018, the pair was battling it out at the box office as both of their respective movies were released on the same day as the other. In an interview, Chaitanya had admitted that his wife is taking on more work than he is and worded his support of her. The talented Telugu film actor stated, “I am really happy for her. Post marriage I wondered how things would work for her, but I’m glad she’s busier than me. It’s also heartening to know she’s had her biggest success post-marriage.”
Samantha’s films U-Turn and Seema Raja had been released on the 13th alongside her husband’s film, Shailaja Reddy Alludu. However, Naga Chaitanya stated that the pair do not see it as a box office clash as the themes of the movie are different. The actor elaborated on his statement and said, “These are two different films. We are confident that both films will do well because of the different genres. Moreover, this is the festive weekend, and there’s room for two big films to release.”
Although the pair’s most recent film together, Majili, had done exceptionally well at the box office and gathered rave reviews from critics, Naga Chaitanya’s last two films had performed poorly at the box office. His ever-supportive wife was thrilled that their film together did so well and praised their director, Shiva Nirvana, for his role in the movie. During a public event, the actress spoke candidly about how nervous she was before the release of their film. She stated that she couldn’t sleep until 2 am on the day of the film’s release. She said that she was extremely nervous about the verdict that the audience would pass on their film. She stated that “As soon as the verdict came out, I was in tears. That is how important a film is for an artiste. It is equivalent to life and death matter. Had it failed, I did not know what answer I was supposed to give to Chaitanya because I believed in the director, every scene and dialogue.”
