While Sameera Reddy may not be doing the rounds of Bollywood anymore, she still has a large and formal fanbase on social media. The Vaaranam Aayiram actress is now married and has two children of her own with her husband, Akshai Varde. The former actress is known for being a bit of a daredevil and even met her husband through a motorcycling event! However, like every actress in the Indian film industry, Sameera too has been the victim of trolls and body shamers who could probably never achieve half her life achievements. These insecure people think targeting a woman for how she looks will crush her feelings because they think beauty is the only thing that matters to a woman. Well, Sameera had a fitting reply to all her haters and she took to Instagram to share it:

“I Try My Best To Be Fearless”

Sameera shared that she had gotten a direct message from a new mother who had told her that she doesn’t feel beautiful and feels fat and ugly. Sameera spoke about how damaging those two words were and how hard she tries to fight against these stereotypes. She added that she doesn’t want anybody who follows her to compare their life to hers. Sameera spoke candidly about being compared to her skinnier sisters.

When she made her entry into Bollywood, the actress described that she tried everything under the sun from skin lightening to wearing padding in areas that she felt were lacking. She spoke about wearing colored lenses to achieve the coveted “light-eyed” look. According to Sameera, “I did everything that made me feel crap about myself. That is why today I work damn hard to fight against any kind of shaming.” Sameera added that people will comment that you’re either too thin, too fat, too dark, etc, and it’s about time we broke those labels.

Sameera stated that she wanted her followers to believe in their goals and ideologies and she mentioned that everyone will eventually get to the place they want to be. She spoke about how angles make a huge difference to a picture and showed that if she held a camera in a certain way, she would have a slight double chin or a paunch. She said that in good time, you can always work on your body but for now, one should focus on the new child in their life and try to be happy.

“Please Be Healthy, Not Skinny”

In her caption, Sameera wrote, “I feel coming back to the public view in a way that I feel no pressure for my own mental health has helped me stay focused on being a good mother and a person who is self-accepting that makes it a healthier space for all around me. Don’t dwell on what you are not and what you don’t have!” She ended her caption by asking her followers to focus on the good that they all are rather than the imperfections.

Sameera’s fans loved her response and praised her in the comments. Many stated that they too had the habit of comparing themselves to people that they saw online and honestly, we feel their pain. People often confuse reality for social media because not many people are honest on the platform. Sameera often puts up videos where she challenges people’s notions of what’s considered conventionally beautiful. The actress has shared videos of herself and tried to spread lovely messages of happiness and body positivity on her social media platforms.

An Inspiration

Sameera has always been bold and outspoken. The actress received much love from other South Indian superstars like Samantha Akkineni who echoed her message. Samantha reposted Sameera’s video with a heart emoji. It’s lovely to see actresses build each other up in an industry that tries so hard to pit them against each other. While she may not be acting in films anymore, Sameera’s presence on social media is still very strong and she uses her platform to share good messages.

In 2019, Sameera and her husband welcomed a new baby girl into their family. The actress already shares a son, Hans with Akshai. Before the actress shared pictures of her daughter on social media she spoke of bouncing back. She had shared a lovely video featuring her with no makeup and her beautiful baby bump. In the video, the actress spoke about how moms are superwomen. She asked her fans and followers to be honest with themselves. Sameera also spoke of how we should all enhance what we already have. She asked people not to cover-up their so-called “flaws”. Sameera spoke about everyone being beautiful regardless of the shape, color, and size they are.

It really is incredible to see a celebrity with such a positive message of happiness for their fans. Not a lot of people are comfortable revealing their insecurities and other issues on camera, but when they do, it certainly makes a difference. Sameera’s message of body positivity is truly inspiring and we hope that it helps other women who identify with these issues feel a lot better about themselves.
