To Each Their Own, I Cannot Say That Everybody Should Be Themselves: Sara Ali Khan Disagrees With Her Father Saif Ali Khan

Bollywood is a place where we find legendary actors and their kin taking over the industry one generation after the other. Over the years we’ve seen several actors enter the industry and excel in their field, sometimes even better than their parents. Sure, you can say it’s mere nepotism but without talent, even nepotism cannot sustain an actor’s stardom in the industry. Sara Ali Khan made her debut in Bollywood with Kedarnath in 2018 and she has had one movie release every year since. Her latest movie Love Aaj Kal that released on Valentine’s Day this year is a modern rendition of her father, Saif Ali Khan’s movie with the same title. The Simmba actress won the hearts of fans and is one of the most loved actresses among millennials.
A while ago, in an interview with a popular news agency, Saif Ali Khan spoke about the difference in work culture between his generation and his daughter’s. He said that there is a lot of pre-management to create a certain personality before a new actor is introduced to the industry. Saif said that the entire process seemed rehearsed and choreographed and he believes that an actor must just be himself. Recently, his daughter Sara Ali Khan was asked about her take on what her father said and she had a very different opinion. In disagreement with her father’s views, she said, “I think to each his own. I cannot say that everybody should be themselves, maybe some people are actually very shady. Maybe they need to be managed and need to have a choreographed personality that works for them. I, as a person, am not like that. At the end of it, it’s a job, people make income out of managing your public image, you don’t want to take that away. The more people you feed, the better it is.”
Sara And Saif: The Bond
When the trailer of her movie Love Aaj Kal was released, Saif Ali Khan confessed that he liked his movie trailer better. In reply to that, Sara responded in an interview with a popular news agency saying that as artists, people tend to be protective and possessive about their work. The young actress stated that she is happy that her father is proud of his creation as well as hers. Being born into a family of actors, Sara opened up about the pressure she faces but said that she also realizes the privilege she has as compared to other contemporaries who come from a non-film background. The new-age actress said, “I come from a family of actors and where there’s a privilege, there’s pressure too and where there’s pressure there’s also fun.”
The 24-year-old actress spoke about the bond that she and her father share. She said that they don’t discuss films because Saif is surrounded by a film family and he doesn’t need another person talking about films to him, even if it is his daughter. Sara expressed how he looks at her like she’s a traitor when she starts talking about movies and says, “Please don’t do this to me.” So, they steer clear of movie conversations. However, she stated that they talk about history, Hitler’s motivations and the Cold War. Sara Ali Khan said that she enjoys having these conversations with her father because they both share an interest in culture, traveling and good food.
One Big Happy Family
Sara Ali Khan was born in 1995 to Saif Ali Khan and his first wife Amrita Singh. Saif and Amrita were married for 13 long years and had two children Ibrahim and Sara. They got a divorce in 2004 and Saif started dating Kareena. In 2012, he tied the knot with Bebo and they now have a beautiful baby boy, Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi. Taimur became an internet sensation in just one day of being born and is one of the most popular celeb babies.
It was reported earlier that Kareena Kapoor does not get along well with Amrita’s children but those turned out to be false rumors. The Veere Di Wedding actress is quite close to Saif’s children. In a talk show, Sara Ali Khan was asked about her relationship with Kareena Kapoor and expressed that she respects and likes her and there is no bad blood between them.
Sara Ali Khan has acted in three films so far and her latest film Love Aaj Kal starring Kartik Aaryan did not perform as well as expected in the box office.
