As Dil Bechara Gears For A Friday Release, Let’s Look Back At 7 Of Sushant Singh Rajput’s Best Performances

Sushant Singh Rajput will forever go down as one of the most talented and self-made actors in Bollywood history. The prolific actor made his debut through the film Kai Po Che and stole millions of hearts with his smile. Sadly, the actor died by suicide on the 14th of June after struggling with his mental health for many months. He was known for his stellar performances in films like Chhichhore, Shuddh Desi Romance, and many more. While many celebrities have been mourning his loss, many have also taken to social media to express their support for his latest film. As we gear up for Sushant’s last film, Dil Bechara, let’s take a look at some of his best roles and films.

1. Kai Po Che!

Kai Po Che! is an Indian buddy drama that stars Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh, and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles. The film is based on the popular Chetan Bhagat novel, The 3 Mistakes of My Life, and is a heartwarming but bittersweet film about friendship, religious politics, and aspirations. The film also revolves around the 2001 Gujarat earthquake and Godhra train burning and Sushant was even nominated for a Filmfare award for Best Debutant.

2. Chhichhore

Chhichhore is a beautiful sonnet to the age-old college friendships, fights, competitions, romances, and countless memories of youth. The film takes you on a relevant but emotional ride through the highs and lows of life and deals with some heavy topics. The story involves a bunch of fresh, young engineering students who go from being zeroes to heroes.

3. Sonchiriya

Sonchiriya is ultimately a telling tale on the perils of patriarchy, gender, caste, and toxic masculinity. The film features a star cast of Bhumi Pednekar, Sushant Singh Rajput, Ranvir Shorey, and Manoj Bajpayee and is set in the ravines of the river Chambal. The intricately woven script wraps perfectly around the powerful performances of the actors.

4. Kedarnath

Kedarnath features a Romeo and Juliet-esque love story between the protagonists, Mandakini and Mansoor, played by Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput respectively. The film is set around the disastrous floods that devastated Uttarakhand in 2013. The beautiful location is amplified by the young stars and the chemistry between the pair is palpable. Sushant’s character Mansoor is a pitoo who carries travelers on his back to the Kedarnath temple high up the hills. It’s truly inspiring to see Sushant execute this physically challenging role with utmost brilliance.

5. Raabta

Raabta is a story that revolves around reincarnation and true love that never dies. Kriti and Sushant shine as the film’s leads and take the audience on a wild journey through centuries. The story is about two young people who meet in Budapest and realize they have a connection from the past. The film also stars Jim Sarbh of Padmaavat fame as Sushant’s competitor for Kriti’s affection.

6. M.S Dhoni: The Untold Story

Sushant acts as the titular character, MS Dhoni in this biopic that is inspired by the real-life of the cricket player. Sushant’s impeccable portrayal of the much-loved cricket player was well received by fans of the cricket player as well as the actor. Sushant channels the role with ease only an actor of his caliber could handle. The film portrays the struggle of the young cricket player as he worked his way up to the top.

7. Shuddh Desi Romance

The film portrays a modern-day love story that is set in the city of Jaipur, Rajasthan. It explored the themes of young love, live-in relationships, stigma, and many more through the lens of Sushant’s Raghu and Parineeti’s Gayatri. Sushant plays the role with a goofy charm and wins the audience over with his stellar performance in this modern story of a love triangle and love conquering over everything.

Sushant’s last film, Dil Bechara is set to release on streaming platforms on Friday. It is a remake of the Hollywood film, The Fault In Our Stars, and features Sushant in a lead role opposite newcomer Sanjana Sanghi. The film is set to release on the Disney + Hotstar service and will be Sushant Singh Rajput’s last film. Fans of the actor are eager to watch the film and many celebrities have shared their support for the film including Sushant’s ex-girlfriend and Pavitra Rishta co-star Ankita Lokhande.

Sushant was known for having a large and loyal fan-base and truly marking his name as a prolific and versatile actor. He was known for his ambitious dreams and his “bucket list.” To many of his fans, Sushant was no ordinary actor, he was a humble, kind, talented, and a wonderful person.
