We’ve all heard of the strict brown mom stereotype, but did you know there is another kind of Indian mom in existence? Yes, some of us are lucky enough to have mothers who are open, honest, and understanding towards us. They stick around and offer helpful advice because they know that they have gone through the same when they were our age. However, sometimes they can get a little too much and you might feel like they’re trying to interfere in your life. At the end of the day, all our moms are total savages. They had to grow up in a tougher time with more adversities against them. Here are a few signs that prove your desi mom is well ahead of her time:
1. She’s Social Media Savvy
If your mom is the kind who leaves hilarious and often savage responses on your social media posts then you know exactly what we’re talking about. If you’re wondering where your awesome poses come from, just know that your mom lived in an era when they could only shoot pictures with the old uncle cameras. Her Instagram game is only good because she had to endure the arduous process of not knowing what her final picture looked like until she got the images developed.
2. She Knows Your Relationship History
If you can talk to your mom about your entire relationship history then you know she’s forward thinking. There are many girls who can’t even mention being friends with the opposite gender in front of their mothers without facing judgment or questioning. Having a mother who is open minded and ready to listen to you and your relationship issues makes you very fortunate indeed. Whether it is in regards to career or in regards to an old friend, your mother knows what’s best. Your mother isn’t the kind of person who would bring down another woman to make herself feel better. If your mother sees another woman who might be going through a rough time or who might simply need her help, she is always there to lend a helping hand and an ear to someone in need. She comes from a generation where, if you came from a certain background, you could not associate with those who weren’t as fortunate as you. Only now people are starting to realize and understand their privilege and have started seeing people who are less fortunate than them as equals.

You might find her a bit intrusive in your daily life, but you know that whatever she does say, is for your own good.
