Her daughter has gone on to become one of the most successful and well-known designers in the industry. Initially, Masaba did not want to keep in touch with her father but after she turned 20, she made amends with him. Kudos to Neena Gupta for raising such a headstrong and dedicated daughter! Although, Neena did manage to find love again and married a New Delhi based CA named Vivek Mehra.

5. Babita

Actress Babita tied the knot with Randhir Kapoor at the prime of her career. Due to the Kapoor family’s rules about their daughters-in-law not acting and her husband’s declining career, tensions started to rise in their relationship. Eventually, the pair separated and Randhir was asked to move out of their shared home. The actress then raised her daughters single-handedly and even prepared them for their Bollywood debuts. Both daughters are interested in pursuing acting careers and are on their way to become big stars.

During the 1990s and early 2000s, Karisma Kapoor was one of the highest-paid actresses in the Hindi film industry. The Coolie No. 1 actress had a tragic entry into Bollywood as she was forced to quit her education to provide for herself financially (her father Randhir Kapoor wasn’t supportive of her choice to act). She made her debut at the ripe age of 17. In 2003, the actress wed wealthy industrialist Sunjay Kapur and the pair share two children, Samaira and Kian. After the couple officially divorced in 2016, Karisma has been raising the children by herself. The actress is known for her hands on nature and is often seen attending school activities and plays with her kids.

It’s safe to say that we have a long way to go before society starts fully accepting single women; especially single women who had children out of wedlock. We salute these brave women for not caring about what others say and following their own heart. What are your thoughts on this list? Let us know in the comments below.
