All of us have suffered from pigmentation problems, haven’t we? The pigmentation spots are extremely stubborn and difficult to get rid of. Our skin is one such organ that is impacted by both, the internal factors of our body and the external factors that affect the body. And pigment spots are something that the skin develops due to various factors like chronic liver and kidney diseases, age-related factors, pregnancy, vitamin deficiencies, the after-effects of acne, skin diseases like eczema, dermatitis, etc.

Like it or not, pigment spots for certain people are unavoidable. Treating them the right way is the only way out of this.

How To Treat Pigment Spots?

Whenever you want to apply any cream or ointment, especially on your face, make sure that you have tested your skin for any allergic reaction. How do you do that? Apply the product on the soft skin of your forearm and patiently wait to see if any allergic reaction surfaces (wait for at least a day). If you begin to feel an itchy sensation, pain or see any signs of inflammation around the pigment spots, it could be that you are allergic.

Sometimes, it can also be a sign of oncological concerns (1). In such cases, you need to visit a doctor to treat the pigmentation spots. But, if any of the above reactions aren’t the case, then we suggest that you can make use of certain natural products to lighten your pigmentation.

How Can We Treat Pigment Spots At Home?

Always prep your skin before treatment. Use soft salt or any mild sugar scrub with oil that suits your skin. Cleanse your skin with it. Apply it on the pigmented areas and massage your face mildly, in circular motions (avoid the eye areas). Wash off with some water and your skin is ready to go for some natural, at-home treatment to get rid of pigmentation.

Here are certain ingredients or foods that can help us lighten the pigmentation spots at home naturally.

1. Lemon

This is the best ingredient for lightening your skin, clearing it and keeping it disinfected. But make sure that your skin isn’t allergic to citrus fruits.

You could mix some lemon juice with some honey or sour cream and apply it on your skin. Wash it off after ten minutes. Or, you could simply wash your face at least three times a day with some lemon water.

2. Soda

This ingredient is best if mixed with some lemon juice. Use it as a face wash. You can also mix soda with water and directly apply the mixture over the spots and then rinse it off. If your skin is sensitive then we suggest that you can do it once or twice a day. Not more than that.

3. Onion

Onions are rich in sulfur as well as vitamin C which boost the skin regeneration, fight acne, lighten dark pigment spots and fight all the skin imperfections (2). Grind some chopped onions, squeeze out the juice and apply it on the spots. After ten minutes, you can wash your face.
