Although all of us know that every woman is unique, there are some stereotypes and generalizations that bother women across the internet. Here is a couple of them that grind people’s gears across the internet. So we decided to do a poll and find out what these stereotypes are across the world. Here are some of the craziest stereotypes women face on a daily basis (sadly):
1. “Every time I feel nauseous or throw up or even display the smallest sign of wanting to throw up for that matter, people always assume I am pregnant. This has been going on since I turned 16 and I have had enough. Women can get sick without being knocked up, you know. Sometimes, I’m just really hungover from a crazy night and if it’s a Monday, I most likely am.”
2. “Every man assumes that I can’t play video games and are always left upset when I kick their a** at it. Seriously, dude. Instead of talking smack to me online just be a good teammate and fetch me the jackhammer.”
3. “Not. Every. Woman. Likes. To. Shop. There, I said it. I get so mad when I see these memes about women being gold-diggers, shopaholics and more. Like I’m sorry, I make my own money and when I do, I do go shopping, I buy my clothes and spend how much ever I want.”
4. “aRe yOu oN yOuR pErIoD? Ugh, there is nothing that pisses me off more than this statement. Like I get that you have a neanderthal level brain that doesn’t seem to function very well, but women don’t have to be on their period to be angry at you.”
5. “Women can’t be friends. Not every woman lives for drama, alright. Some of my best friends in the entire world are women and I can’t imagine a life without them. I really can’t tolerate the idea that women have to constantly be fighting.”
6. “I’m tired of having people assume I must love romantic films just because I’m a woman. I live for horror and action flicks and I get so annoyed when my potential dates suggest we watch romantic movies just because they assume I’m a romantic film lover because I’m a girl.”
7. “This is a PSA to every cloth maker on the planet. Women make money too. Women have car keys too. Women have humongous mobile phones too. So for the love of God, stop designing pockets meant for toddlers.”
8. “I get annoyed when people assume that my only goal in life is to get married. I’ve had friends who’ve planned their weddings down to the smallest detail well before we even hit our 20s, but I’m not like that. Heck, I don’t even enjoy attending weddings, let alone plan one for myself.”
9. “That all women need children. I don’t want to grow up to become a baby-maker. I have career plans, life goals and so many things I want to achieve before I even fathom the idea of having children. Like it’s not even funny.”
10. “Not all of us enjoy doing house work. It’s just something we’re forced to do simply because we have to. Just because Cinderella enjoyed doing housework does not mean every woman is the same, right?”
11. “That women only care about looks and wallets. I mean, c’mmon, we care about height too! Just kidding. It’s ridiculous that men assume we’re only attracted to them for their bank balance and the way they look. If I wanted something pretty to look at, I’d just buy a lava lamp, not invest my time and energy in a relationship.”
12. “I’m sick of men assuming that we waste all our money on taking care of the way we look. Some women enjoy doing that, others do not. More so, what’s wrong with us spending OUR money on the way we look? Firstly, we have to deal with unrealistic standards of beauty and secondly, we have to deal with photoshop and the like. Of course, we’re going to be insecure and want to change the way we look. It’s human!”
13. “That everything we do is to impress men. Whether it is wearing revealing clothes, or donning makeup to work to even gaming for that matter. We don’t do things just to please men. Some of us enjoy doing that for ourselves, just to look hot or to do it for the gram.
14. “Every time I get angry people assume I’m being crazy and irrational. Some people even go so far to say I’m being overly dramatic. C’mmon, I’m allowed to have feelings and emotions.”
15. “People assume that just because I am a feminist, I hate all men. I don’t hate all men. I love men. I just hate men who make my life miserable and try to take my rights from me.”
16. “Everyone assumes that we hate when our partners hang out with their friends. It’s a really stupid concept. I have a life outside work and friends of my own.”
These are just a few of the thousands of stereotypes commonly seen on the internet. You’ve probably encountered a lot more stereotypes in your time there.
