Think of a tomboy, and the first image that comes to your mind is of a carefree, low-maintenance woman. She’s someone who does not care much about makeup, has a fuss-free dressing style, and is almost allergic to spending time at the salon. Not that being a high-maintenance woman is bad, but being low-maintenance has its own charm; a zone not many can comprehend. So, we list here 10 such things that only low-maintenance women will understand:
1. What’s Makeup?
Her hands are never steady while applying that liquid eyeliner; that palette of 56 eye shades remind her of a paint box, and she can never tell a concealer apart from a foundation. Well, you know what we are talking about. The idea of makeup for a low-maintenance woman is generally a stroke of mascara on her lashes, a hint of lipstick, and some powder on the face.
2. Dressing Up
Well, wasn’t dressing up all about school ‘Annual Day’ functions? That too only when the school teachers and parents pitched in? Now, it’s all about getting into her sweatpants, casual tees, and tops in a jiffy. A low-maintenance woman is also pretty good at mixing and matching her outfits. For instance, she may team up her crop top with a flared palazzo on one occasion, and with jeans on another.
3. Hair Wash
Remember the expert advice to wash hair only twice or thrice a week to avoid stripping them of their natural oils? A low-maintenance woman follows this advice to the T. Why damage your hair by washing them with chemically-laden hair products? But, every time that she does wash her hair, everyone, including her close family, will surely believe she had a trip to the salon!
4. Hair Style
Those elaborate up-dos, French knots, or those fish-tail plaits are not something you’ll generally find a low-maintenance woman in. With a not-so-regular hair wash routine, she’ll try to find quick-fix hairstyles for herself. So, chances are you may often spot her sporting a neat little ponytail or a messy bun. And the flowing tresses are reserved for those hair-washed days!
5. Accessories
This is something every guy would probably love about a low-maintenance woman – she takes it easy when it comes to accessorizing. What is the point in wearing chandelier earrings or those statement necklaces if you are meeting the same person, or people, every day? She’d rather wear something that’s light for her to carry. For her, the idea of an accessory would be a pair of funky sunglasses. Or probably a nice strappy wristwatch – stuff she can pair with almost everything.
6. The Intimate Wear
An intimate wear is, well, quite intimate for her. Almost like a second skin. And no one exactly changes their skin regularly, right? So, what if it smells a bit? It’s her own smell anyway. The idea behind an intimate wear for a low-maintenance woman is all about comfort. Which is why she’ll not mind keeping the same bra on for a week or so. And, quite obviously, those painful under-wired bras or those itchy, lacy underwear are a strict no-no for her.
7. Shopping Malls
Women love shopping! And more than that, they love hanging out there. However, this does not hold true for a low-maintenance woman. She dreads spending meaningless hours in those over-crowded, claustrophobic spaces. Not to mention those eerily dressed mannequins looking out at her through glass windows, giving her the chills. But she does visit the shopping mall once in a while, only when she needs a present for a high-maintenance girlfriend or for an event.
8. Repeating Outfits
Getting caught wearing the same dress twice might be a nightmare for some of us. But not for a low-maintenance woman! Agreed, she’d worn it last time to a party. But who remembers? Especially if no photos were taken. There are only a few of those occasions when she will purchase a highly expensive dress for herself. So, why wear it only once? Or twice? No harm in wearing it to her heart’s content, right?
9. Done In 20 Minutes
Yes, you’ve read that right. That’s exactly the amount of time a low-maintenance woman would invest in getting ready for almost anything. And yet, she’ll come out looking gorgeous; surprising everyone around her. We wouldn’t be surprised though, considering her penchant for fuss-free hairstyles, easy-breezy dresses, and an equally nonchalant attitude towards makeup. You go, girl!
10. Loose Nightwear
Quite often, we all get carried away by the pictures of glamorous women wearing fitted nightwear or pajamas. But what about comfort? With her entire onus on comfort, she doesn’t give in to wearing nightwear that clings to her body. For her, it is all about releasing her body of all tensions, including clothing. She would rather opt for those billowing nighties that give her a lot of room to move around in, which let her skin breathe easy.
