5 Indian Television Celebrities Who Proposed To Their Partners On Reality Shows

Who doesn’t like a big grand romantic gesture? Every rom-com movie delivers romantic gestures, big and small that capture our hearts. Whether we are in love or not, seeing those lovey-dovey couples warms our hearts and makes us wish that we have someone to share these moments with. There is no denying that they can be annoying but that feeling mostly stems from jealousy, am I right ladies? (wink wink) While grand gestures of love are appreciated worldwide, there are some television couples out there who were given a proposal that was viewed by an entire nation. Some of our favorite television couples declared their love to their soulmates and gave them a proposal they just could not refuse on national television. Here is a list of these lucky ladies whose teenage girl fantasies came true and received a proposal they could not say no to.

1. Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta

These are two names that are well known among the television industry. Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta played husband and wife on-screen in the serial 12/24 Karol Bagh. The two of them hit it off instantly and started dating in no time. In an interview, Sargun said that Ravi was kind of unromantic because, on her birthday, he gifted her a washing machine and TV. When they were participating in the dance reality show Nach Baliye season 5, Ravi proposed to Sargun on national television and she was mind blown (as were we). He went down on one knee and proposed to his ladylove with a solitaire in front of all their friends and family. It was so cute that we don’t think Sargun would ever call him unromantic again.

2. Rithvik Dhanjani and Asha Negi

Following suit, in Nach Baliye season 6, Rithvik Dhanjani proposed to his girlfriend Asha Negi. The famous Pavithra Rishta couple had been dating for six years after they met on the show. They are known for their chemistry on and off-screen and share a fairytale kind of love. The two of them participated in Nach Baliye season 6 where Rithvik got down on his knee and sang a song for his sweetheart. What better way to proclaim your love for someone than through a song? In the very next episode, Asha swooped in with a gesture of her own in reciprocation of his heartwarming proposal. She gifted him with a customized guitar with a collage of their pictures on it. These two love birds won the show that season and are still so much in love.

3. Upen Patel and Karishma Tanna

A trend seemed to be in place on the sets Nach Baliye because the dance reality show saw another grand romantic gesture in its season 7. This time it was not just a proposal but an engagement itself! Upen Patel arranged an entire engagement ceremony which swept Karishma off her feet. He asked her to close her eyes and when she opened them she was blown away to see everyone in the audience holding placards which said “Marry me?” while a few little girls walked up to her with placards that said, “Please marry him”. He then went down on his knee and the two of them exchanged rings. We were rooting for these two but sadly they broke up in 2016 due to differences.

4. Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande

One of the most adorable couples on the block, Sushant Singh Rajput and Ankita Lokhande were in a seven-year-long relationship. These two were an inspiration to many young couples because their relationship had a lot of aww-inducing moments. Sadly, the Pavitra Rishta couple called it quits in 2016 and left all their fans heartbroken. However, before they split, Sushant proposed to Ankita on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in a Valentine’s Day special episode and it was the sweetest proposal ever. Her reaction was so cute when she said “I love you, Guggu” and then said that she will marry him.

5. Abigail Pandey and Sanam Johar

Nach Baliye saw two proposals in season 8 and one of them is an inspiration to every woman who thinks they have to wait for a proposal from their better halves. Abigail Pandey and Sanam Johar, the star couple who is very much in love even to this day, are best friends who fell in love. After a captivating dance performance by the power duo, Abigail got down on her knees and proposed to her boyfriend Sanam. It was beautiful and she broke all the stereotypes that say that only a man should propose. Sanam was surprised and got emotional on stage. The two of them exchanged rings and are a testament that true love still exists!

Being proposed to by the love of your life is an exciting feeling in itself but for this to happen on national television is surely something that gets you on cloud 9! Love conquers all and with such grand gestures, it is not surprising that we are holding on to the hope that someday, we will be swept off our feet too.
