Types Of People On Social Media

Social media is a parallel universe where we have the ability to make friends with people who we never meet in person. They might be miles away but you can with converse them and share your life with them with the help of social media. However, social media can do a lot more than that and it depends on us. Not all of us use social media for the same reason or for the same joy. If you are someone who scrolls through Instagram because you want to know about what your friends are up to, your friend might be on Instagram only because she has a business plan and she needs social media to promote it. And if you are someone who minds your own business and only chat with people you know IRL, your cousin might be the one who sends chat requests to every girl he comes across on social media (sorry bro). We thought it might be fun to list down some of the types of people who bless (or curse sometimes) the social media with their presence. So, here we go!

1. The Stalker

This could be a random admirer of yours who’s too nervous to talk to you. This could also be your mom/ dad/ ex/ neighbor aunty who’s too interested in what you do every day. The stalkers hardly ever have an interesting social media account and they are only active when they want to check on people. Social media stalkers are only harmless if they are within their limits. There could be random strangers who stalk you and if they bother you online, do not hesitate to block and report the account.

2. The Good Morning Good Night Person

Be it WhatsApp, Facebook, or Instagram, this person sends you a forwarded or typed “Good Morning” and “Good Night” message every day. These messages may come along with cute pictures or a bundle of emojis. You reply to their messages in the beginning if you know them, but there is a high chance that you get annoyed and stop replying.

3. The Serial “Forwarder”

Talking about people who forward messages, don’t we all have that one aunt or uncle who keeps forwarding every “informative” piece of content they receive? They hardly ever fact-check before doing so which can be quite harmful to people who believe them. And it’s not just these forwarded messages. They’re the ones who share “one like one prayer” and “one like will give this poor child one Rupee for treatment” kind of posts on social media.

4. The Artist

Thank god we have these people around us. These underrated social media users are gems and we should ideally be following them and encouraging their art instead of binge watching TikTok videos. Social media can really help these artists gain the momentum that they seek in their career and can help them grow into professionals. It’s just your support they seek. Be it someone who paints well, sings well, dances well, or is even a chef! If you like them, support them on social media.

5. The TikTok Kid

There’s always a TikTok kid in every group who makes endless videos and knows everything about the recent trends among top ranking videos. They not only spend half of their day in shoot mode but also try to involve you in these videos if you’re their friend. While some of the challenges like the Kiki challenge and the skull-breaker challenge has made us hate TikTok, it’s a simple fact that it makes people happy. So all we hope is that the TikTok kids are responsible while they enjoy the app.

6. The “Instagram Model”

This person is quite popular in their college or work place and has more number of followers than an actual artist with a verified, blue-ticked account. Even if they aren’t, they behave like a model and upload photos of themselves clicked by a friend who they either begged or bribed (like we don’t do that, right?). The sad part is that they don’t know the A, B, C of real modeling.

7. The Fake Fish

The fake fish has multiple accounts. One of these might be a real account which they use as their personal account. The other accounts are used for all sorts of hush hush activities like following adult pages and commenting obscene and hateful stuff on random posts. These people often take advantage of their anonymity and comment on socio-political posts in a little too strong way.

8. The Influencer

The influencers bless our social media feed with their content. Thank god we have these people to make the internet a better place. These people are passionate content creators who will let you know about content related to fashion, beauty, food, travel, gardening, crafts, music, yoga, fitness, and anything under the sun. Their videos are fun to watch we love them!

9. The Silent Assassin

There’s this one person who hardly ever texts in any group. They’ll leave you on “seen” and won’t reply immediately to your texts. They are so silent sometimes that it frustrates you and you might want to assassinate them.

So, here you go! These are the different types of people you will see on social media. Can you relate to this list? Do you have friends like this? Let us know in the comments section below. Also, tell us which type of social media person you are!
