There are some couples we look at and think, “Wow, what a perfect pair they make” and then there are others who we look at and think, “Ah, that’s a weird pair.” So, we decided to come up with a list of the weirdest yet eerily compatible characters in recent Bollywood films. From Kalindi and Rishabh to Piku and Rana, let’s take a look at some of the most unusual couples in Bollywood films.

1. Vicky Kaushal And Alia Bhatt In Raazi

Raazi is cited as one of Alia Bhatt’s most powerful performances. But what truly stole the show for us, was the incredible chemistry shared between Vicky Kaushal’s character, Iqbal and Alia Bhatt’s character, Sehmat. Their young and blossoming love was shown through the lens of Indo-Pak tensions and we see how deeply Sehmat starts to care for him.

2. Ranbir and Aishwarya Rai In Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

Although the love Aishwarya’s character, Saba has for Ranbir’s character Ayan, ends up being one-sided, the chemistry between the pair is undeniable. In the film, Saba was a divorcee and started dating a much younger Ayan which was unusual for a Bollywood film to showcase.

3. Kareena Kapoor and Sumeet Vyas In Veere Di Wedding

Kareena’s character, Kalindi and Sumeet Vyas’s character, Rishabh, have been living together for two years when he pops the question. Kalindi, on the other hand, is averse to the idea of marriage due to childhood trauma. Throughout the film, you see the amazing chemistry shared between the pair and you are forced to fall in love with how much in love they are. While the movie has its own set of twists and turns, the love they have for each other conquers it all.

4. Konkana Sen Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor In Wake Up Sid

Ranbir’s character Sid plays a spoilt brat who ends up getting kicked out of his house for his ways and crashes on his new friend Aisha’s couch. Initially disorganized and irresponsible, his nature gets to be too much for Aisha and she yells at him to get his sh*t together. After Sid finally gets his life together he discovers he has feelings for Aisha who already harbored feelings for him.

5. Deepika Padukone And Irrfan Khan In Piku

Deepika’s character Piku is an ambitious young architect with a slightly overbearing father. Irrfan Khan’s character of Rana is the complete opposite of Piku and very easy-going and fun. The pair grow close throughout the course of the movie and start developing feelings for each other.

Despite encountering a rough spot and having misunderstandings with each other, it is implied that they get together by the end of the movie.

A kind man named Arnab tries to help Rukhsana, a chained woman who appears to be a victim of domestic abuse. He encounters her in a horrible condition inside a hut and rescues her. However, Arnab starts to realize Rukhsana is not who she seems to be and the movie unfolds in a horrifyingly beautiful manner.

7. Madhuri Dixit And Huma Qureshi In Dedh Ishqiya

Madhuri Dixit plays a widow who is in love with her maid-servant and uses the help of Naseeruddin Shah’s, Khalujan and Arshad Warsi’s, Babban to help her escape with her lover. By the end of the film we see the cunning women escape and live a happy life through a telling letter sent to Khalujan and Babban.

8. Vidya Balan And Manav Kaul In Tumhari Sulu

Vidya Balan plays Sulu who is an ambitious housewife looking to find herself. She lives happily with her young son and her husband. However, things start to change when she wins a contest and secretly auditions for a night show at a radio station. Despite initially hating the nature of her job, her husband starts to appreciate her and eventually accepts the idea that she is a working woman.

Rahul Bose plays commitment-phobic Sid who eventually agrees to marry his feisty girlfriend, Trisha, played by Mallika Sherawat. However, while negotiating through their other problems, they are faced with a major hurdle after Trisha’s father starts disliking Sid.

While some of these pairs were completely unexpected, they seem to work out oddly well together.
