Did you know, wheat bread can be used as a perfect cleaning agent for your apartment? Cleaning with bread is not something we invented recently, it has been used by ancient civilizations as well! Initially, breadcrumbs were used to get rid of graphite marks and make amends in writing. How cool is that! You simply need to remove the crust and squeeze the remaining crumbs into a compact ball. The gluten in the bread helps to absorb dirt and stains from most surfaces. With this bread ball, you can easily remove greasy fingerprints, stains, and dust from surfaces. Simply roll the bread ball to the soiled area and watch the stains vanish like magic!

2. For Reviving Marshmallows

If you have marshmallows in your home that have lost their softness and turned dry, there’s a trick to revive them using bread! Firstly, place a fresh piece of bread in a plastic bag with the dried marshmallows, and let them sit together for a couple of days. The moisture in the bread will help revive the marshmallows and you can enjoy them without having to throw them away. This trick is a lifesaver if you have guests coming in for a tea party and don’t want to rush out to get new marshmallows!

3. For Stopping Tears While Chopping Onions

Most of us dread chopping fresh onions thinking about the uncontrollable tears and burning sensation in our eyes. But alas, it is not something you can avoid completely. But what if we tell you, your humble slice of bread can help you with that? There are two methods you can try to prevent tears while chopping onions using bread. You can insert a slice of fresh white bread into your mouth, leaving half of it on the outside while chopping the onion, or you can cover the blunt side of the knife with a piece of bread. By doing so, the bread will absorb the enzymes responsible for the tears before they can irritate your eyes. You can also try combining both methods for added effectiveness.

4. For Reviving Old Paintings

If you own valuable paintings at home that are not framed in glass, you will notice that with time dust and dirt accumulate and darken their color. While we are too scared to clean them with normal cleaning agents, a fresh slice of bread can be perfect for the job. All you need to do is gently run the slice of bread on the surface of the painting. Do not scrub it as it can make the bread break into crumbs. Once it’s clean, dust the bread crumbs off the painting using a dry paintbrush.

5. For Picking Up Broken Glass

Accidents are bound to happen, and broken glass is never too easy to clean up. Not doing it correctly can cause serious health risks so you need to make sure you collect even the tiniest piece of glass that shattered on the floor. To do it, you need to put on thick rubber gloves and pick the large pieces of glass. Once they are off the floor, take a slice of bread and dab it on the places where you think tiny pieces of glass may have spread. The bread will collect the pieces and make the floor free of hazards.

6. For Polishing Silverware And Jewelry

Silver is a malleable metal so you need to put a lot of thought into what you want to clean it with to avoid scratches. As it turns out, bread is the perfect substance to polish it with. All you need to do is tear a small piece of bread and use it as a gentle abrasive to buff your silver items. The bread’s soft texture won’t scratch the metal but will help to remove tarnish and restore its shine. You can also try it on your silver jewelry that has lost its shine with time.

Who would have thought that bread could be used for so many different things other than eating it! This is especially helpful to avoid food wastage as now you can use bread that is out of date or soggy for different purposes. And with time, you can also come up with more creative uses of bread other than what is mentioned in this article!
