Sonu has been feeding over 45,000 people from the COVID hit Mumbai streets. The actor has been feeding people in Andheri, Jogeshwari, Juhu, and Bandra (note: highest number of cases and slums). When asked by a newspaper, Sonu stated, ““Some of us are blessed to have food and shelter in these tough times, but there are many who have not had meals in days. To help them, I’ve started a special food and ration drive, Shakti Annadanam, which is named after my father. I hope I am able to help as many people as possible,”

The actor has been extremely vocal on Twitter and has been following up with people regarding their housing situation. Sonu has also been turned into fun and wholesome memes about getting people back home. He has been reaching out through his social media handles and calling and arranging for tickets to land into the hands of migrant workers and other out of state persons.

It’s wonderful to see so many celebrities and common people stand up and speak out during this time of crisis. It is important to try and do your bit in any way you possibly can. A lot of these migrant workers are exhausted from trying to walk back home and it’s understandable that they may be distressed. If you do not have the financial freedom to donate money, you can donate clothes, books, essential items, sanitary pads, food, water, etc. Even something as small as sharing a post on Facebook or Instagram can make a small difference as it will reach a wider audience.
