Mums, you can’t live with them, you can’t live without them. When you were under the care of your parents, you abided by their rules (for the most part) and were on your best behavior (well, mostly). But now, it’s your house, your rules. And that’s exactly why you moved out, right? Wrong! When your mother decides to randomly drop by unannounced, you might freak out and think the worst. But rest easy, it’s only for a short while. Here are 12 weird things that will only happen when your mother is down to your place for a visit:
1. She Scans You Like A Hawk The Moment She Walks In
Your mom has always been a perfectionist. She’s the type of lady who keeps her clothes in check, her health in order and her hair pinned at the top. So obviously the first thing she’s going to do is scan you from top to bottom. You have to make sure your clothes are neat and ironed and ensure your hair is tied up. After all, roaming around with open hair is so “downmarket”.
2. She’ll Immediately Take A Stroll Around Your House
Of course, the first thing your mum is going to do is take a nice long walk all over your house. In the process she’s probably going to pick up half of your belongings and rearrange them into something completely different. Breathe. Just a few days.
3. She Opens Your Fridge And Questions Your Eating Habits
“Sorry for having a job and not getting time to sit and cook for myself, moooom.” You’d say as she chastises you for having bad eating habits and eating too much junk.
4. She Questions Your Sleeping Habits
“You’re getting eight hours of sleep, right?”, she’ll ask as she judges the state of your bed. Of course you made sure that you kept your entire room clean and finally got rid of those clothes on your chair.
5. She’ll Also Ask You How Much You Pay Your Maid
Of course your mom has to know that your maid isn’t eating up half your salary, right? Your mother would of course want to know that you are paying your maid the right amount of money and not being too generous with your wallet.
6. She Makes A Snarky Comment On Your Posture
It’s all fun and games until you slouch a little while eating dinner and get a solid thump on your back for doing so. There’s nothing your mother hates more than bad posture. Make sure you keep your back straight, as a rule, while she’s around.
7. She Tries To Act Super Cool In Front Of Your Friends
“I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom!” Your mother is one of the most fabulous actors in the world. She can actually make your friends think she’s a cool mom. She’ll chime in and throw a few slangs around and be cool. That is, until they leave. The moment the door shuts she will start to judge your friends for everything that they did or said in her presence.
8. She’ll Take You Out To The Best Restaurants In Town
Of course when mummy’s in town, you gotta dine and wine as much as you can. And the best part? She would love to fit the bill for you. After all, you’re her darling daughter, right?
9. She’ll Cook For The Next Three Weeks
Of course, she has to make sure she cooks a feast for kings before she leaves. She wouldn’t want your maid thinking that she’s a bad mom who doesn’t keep her kid fed, right?
10. She Makes Sure You Know How Much She Loves You
Your mother loves you more than anything on this planet. And she’s not afraid to show it. Before she leaves she will ensure she keeps a wad of cash in your bag and cover you in hugs and kisses.
11. You Start To Realize You’re Really Going To Miss Her
Of course when your mom leaves, you feel like a piece of your heart left too. But that’s alright, you can always video call her and keep in touch over email if you have to. There is nothing that your mother loves more than when you video call her and talk to her. We bet you that it makes her day.
12. Before She’s Even Out Of Your Building She Has Planned Her Next Visit
Of course, your mom isn’t your mom if she hasn’t planned her next visit to you. You can trust your mom to be up to something when she asks you about your plans for two months later.
