Cucumbers are fat-free, so you can binge on them without feeling guilty about putting on weight. If you like cucumbers, you can also make an overnight drink for yourself to drop pounds quickly. All you have to do is, add a bunch of coriander leaves, 2 tablespoons of aloe vera juice, one lemon, and cucumber to half a glass of water. Add half an inch of grated ginger to this. Grind these ingredients together and consume it before going to bed.

Studies have shown that persistent consumption of almonds increases the levels of vitamin E and monounsaturated or “good” fats (3). Almonds are also high in fiber, vitamin B, and zinc, and thus make us feel full for a long time. Ergo, eating almonds can help you cut down on sugar cravings. Also, nuts are rich in oleic acid which induces a feeling of satiety (4).

If pepper suits your palate, add it to your dinner dishes or eat it with cottage cheese.

Afraid of piling on extra pounds, we often choose salads for dinner or sometimes even skip the meal. But, to not eat at all before bedtime can actually be really bad for weight loss. Not only will it make it difficult for you to fall asleep with a roaring tummy, but it will also make you pig out the next morning. So, what’s the solution? Say cottage cheese! A little bit of cottage cheese, either grilled or in a steak form, whatever suits your taste buds, will help you combat fat. It is rich in casein protein and contains amino acid tryptophan as well, both active catalysts of calorie burning.

So, if you’re busy doing the “Netflix and Chill” routine and you are in a habit of eating something until you sleep, makhana should be your go-to option. These are rich in iron too. The best part is that you don’t require any Masterchef skills to dry roast the makhana in a pan with sprinkles of black pepper. This can help in your weight loss wonderfully.

Bonus: Cinnamon

Cinnamon adds great flavor to food, but if you want to speed up your fat burning process while you snore the night away, drink some cinnamon water. Add half a tablespoon of cinnamon to a glass of warm water and consume it at night. You can also add a tab bit of honey to this, but make sure the water isn’t hot while adding honey. This concoction curbs your cravings and helps you burn fat (6).

More often than not, when people indulge in late night snacking they make bad food choices. So, be wise and eat healthily. All you need to do is aim to get your metabolism on its top gear. And that’s achievable by eating foods that will help you burn calories even while you’re fast asleep. What’s your pick going to be from the list above?
