Reasons Why I am Stronger Than I Believe I Am

Written by Shivani K •

“Be strong,” “Be Yourself,” these are the words that you can find everyone around you preaching, right? Have you wondered why? Before you start wondering about that, let me ask you a simple question — are you a strong person? By “strong” I don’t really mean just the physical strength, I’m talking about you as an overall person. So, here it goes again — Are you a strong person? If you promptly answered “yes” I’m so glad that you’re aware of your strength (happy smiles). But, if you took even more than a second to answer this question, I’m sure the answer is a “no” (happier smiles). No, I’m not mocking you for your answer. It takes great strength to accept that you aren’t strong enough.

Now, coming back to that question which I asked in the very first few sentences of this wordy article, why do you think people are preaching about strength? It’s because they’ve been in a weak position and they have battled it out. The result of which is a stronger person! So, the first thing I want you to understand is that even I’ve felt weak, miserably weak. Most of us have felt it. However, it’s not something that you should use as a parameter to judge your capabilities.

If you’ve found enough reasons that make you feel weak, then I’d suggest you to find more than enough reasons to feel strong as well. It could be the silliest of the reasons but every bit counts. That’s exactly what I did. I did not let my self-doubt cloud my life, I let it do its job while I did mine, which was to find reasons that would make me feel confident. Folks, it’s all about how you train your mind. There’s nothing to panic about, nothing to regret. The only person responsible for you is “you”. Let me take you through my journey of realization that I was stronger than I ever believed to be.

I’m Always On Time To Catch That Train To Work

If you’re wondering why I would even mention this and how does it make a person strong, let me explain. Every morning, no matter how chaotic it is at home — from waking up my son and getting him all dressed up for school to making breakfast for everyone at home — I’d somehow manage to catch that train to work, even if I arrived at the last minute, I’d run to the platform. If my head ever said, “No, you can’t make it Shivani,” I’m sure I’d listen to it and give up, but I knew I was strong and that I could make it on time. Here’s the thing: we should never let self-doubt or any negative thought overwhelm us.

When I Sit Down With My Friends And Listen To Their Problems

I’m a very approachable person. This made my friends talk their heart out to me. They’d share all their problems with me and expect some solution or at least a great degree of pacification from my end. And I never failed them in that. One day, while doing this drill, my friend uttered, “When you could solve our problems so patiently, I’m sure you handle your own problems like a pro.” That’s when the bell in my head rang. I realized I was stronger than those around me, all I had to do was to handle my own clutter patiently and find a solution, just like I did for others.

When I Managed To Complete That 5K Marathon In A Saree

Physical strength is something that every human is uncertain about. Especially, the womenfolk. But physical strength, too, is driven by our mental capabilities. If you think you can’t do it, no matter how much physical effort you put in, you’ll still feel like you’ve failed yourself. Trust me, I’m not a gym person. But I always wanted to run a marathon, so when the announcement for the annual marathon was made in my office, I decided to go for it. It was a saree marathon for women this time. I didn’t know if I could do it, but I decided to still go for it. And guess what, I successfully completed the run. This is where I realized that I wouldn’t know how strong I was until I tried my hand at it. Just try; that’s the first sign of your strength.

PMS Makes Me Feel Like I’m A Superwoman

Every woman hates that time of the month, right? But have you ever wondered how strong we are when we are honored with the arrival of Aunt Flo? I mean, we put up with the cramps, the backaches, the stomach aches, the leg pains and what not. And oh, let me add this — we control our urge to kill all those people who throw tantrums at us on the days we deserve the most love and care (smirk face). But, honestly, as women, we bear so much when we’re on our period.

When we can go through so much turmoil then why can’t we go through the easy challenges we face otherwise? Stay strong, stay determined. It’s in our hands to be strong or not. Never let another person judge your capabilities.

So, yes, be strong, be you! (Smiles)
